A Miss You Should Not Miss
For some reason, Finn isn't at rehearsal.
Everyone else has arrived, and there are a few familiar faces. Josh is here, thank God, because he got the role of Sky, which means I'll be acting alongside him for most of my scenes.
I'm glad to have the opportunity to work alongside Josh, I think we have good chemistry that will be believable on stage, even though I'm not attracted to him like that, and he's the same about me, which is actually a relief.
There's already enough drama with my drama teacher.
I also can't see any of the actresses who auditioned for Donna, so I'm not sure if Saffy got the role. I think she should be Donna, because in my opinion she was the best actress.
Xander briefly explained Finn's absence, simply saying he was unable to make it. I decided against texting him to find out where he was, coming to the conclusion that Finn would come to me when he was ready.
Josh is very excited about the part. They've already given us our scripts, and we'll be staging everything and acting as we go along. We're to learn our lines in our own time, but they're similar to the film so it shouldn't be too challenging.
We only have three weeks of rehearsal time before our week of performances, as it's only a small production due to the budget, so we have no time to lose.
I've already been on stage singing I Have A Dream, but we're unable to do the next scene because the actress for Donna isn't here.
They've drawn the curtains shut on stage, and everyone is sort of milling about, waiting for directions. Even Xander is at a loss for words; right now he's on the phone, probably trying to contact his Donna actress.
"There's nothing to fear!" A loud voice booms through the curtains. It's female, confident and sassy, clearly about to make a large announcement.
I feel a smile tugging at my lips, because I think I recognise the voice.
From behind the curtain steps Saffy, a towel wrapped around her usually blonde coloured hair, concealing it. A smile appears on my face, and everyone in the room has turned to look at her.
"Saffy...?" Xander begins, but trails off. There's a glint in her eye as she looks at him.
"Donna is here" Saffy announces, and whips the towel off her head to reveal a cascade of copper coloured hair, identical to mine, that drops down her back. "Say hello to Mamma!"
Instantly I burst out laughing and run up onto the stage to hug Saffy. I'm so glad she's got the part of Donna. She wraps me up in her arms and hugs me back.
"We look more like mother and daughter now, don't we?" Saffy asks Xander, wrapping an arm around me to showcase us. Xander at first appears mad, but he can't hide the smile on his face.
"Yes, but that doesn't excuse you being late!" Xander scolds, but I can tell it's not serious. We begin the next scene immediately, and working with Saffy is amazing.
She takes acting to the next level. I really do feel like I am Sophie, talking to her mother. All other thoughts are erased from my head.
The rehearsals go by pretty quickly; the focus was just acting today. Apparently we're beginning choreographing tomorrow to fill in some of the songs we've already learned, so we've been told to wear lose clothes.
I'm quite excited; I love incorporating dance into acting. To me, it's another means of expressing myself and my character. If I can't be an actress or a singer, I'll be a dancer. The three all mean the same to me, I love them all equally.
