Sleigh My Name
"I think we should take it in turns to open the presents" I suggest to Finn, sliding the bag that I bought him in his direction, wiggling my eyebrows at him. "I open one, you open one"
"Can we remove clothes at the same time?" Finn asks with a devilish grin, and I roll my eyes at him, beginning to pick off the tape on the top of my present.
"Is your mind ever out of the gutter?" I ask him sweetly, batting my eyelashes at him.
"Not when you're around" He confesses, giving me a wide smile, which quickly turns to a face full of worry "Now open your present, I want to know if you like it!"
Giggling at Finn's fretful face, I begin to open it. "Of course I'll like it" I tell him, pulling the wrapping paper from the present. It falls away onto the floor, and I'm left holding a tube of sweets in my hands.
"I hope those are the right ones" Finn fusses and I look at him, touched.
"I can't believe you bought me these; they're my favourite sweets" I tell him, giving him a wide smile, touched at his gift.
"You mentioned them once in a lesson when I handed them out" Finn informs me and I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear, turning over the tube in my hand.
"And you remembered? I don't even remember saying that..." I trail off. The only action I can think of is leaning forward to kiss him to show how touched I am by his gift, honestly surprised by his thoughtfulness. "Okay, your turn"
I hand Finn the bag and he takes the presents out, placing the three of them on the floor, identical to mine. "Any particular order?" He asks me.
"Open that one last" I say, pointing to the slim box wrapped in shiny red paper and adorned with a large red bow.
"As you wish, Madame" Finn teases, reaching for the first present. He chooses the small, soft package and squeezes it a little between his fingers first. "What is it?" He muses aloud, rather than a question for me.
"Open it and find out" I say, sticking my tongue out at him. I'm beaming because this is the first present I bought for him, and it seems only fitting that he opens it first, even if he doesn't know it.
Chuckling at my childishness, Finn begins opening the present. He pulls the wrapping paper off quickly, and it reveals the cheesy, novelty Christmas tie underneath.
Immediately he breaks into chuckles, and relieved that he likes it, I join in. "It's better than the yellow tie" I point out and Finn laughs.
"How come the snowman on the front gets to wear a yellow tie and I don't?" Finn asks me, tilting his head at me. For a second, I pretend to ponder this.
"Because-!" I begin chirpily "You, my darling Finn, will be wearing the snazzy new navy blue tie which I have got for you"
"Oh, well that's perfectly alright then" Finn agrees, and I lean forward to kiss him. "Right, it's your turn again"
Naturally, I'm drawn to the present Finn says I'm not allowed to open yet. But, I decide to obey his rules and I go for the present resembling the book.
Now that I'm looking at the present properly, I realise it must be a large book. I begin to open the paper, intrigued as to what it could be.
"Is it a book?" I ask, and Finn narrows his eyes at me.
"Wait and see" He responds, and I finally remove the wrapping paper. Its title is 'Silent on the Screen' and it shows several doe-eyed looking actresses on the front, immortalised in black and white.
