The End of the Line (Part Two)

"Mr Williams, what are you doing here?" Mr Barnes asked, genuine surprise on his face. I'm about to open my mouth when Chris beats me to it.

"I text him. He's a close personal friend of both me and my family, and until our father gets here, he's our moral support" Chris lies, and even though I'm impressed with the fluidity of his fabrication, I don't show it on my face.

"I didn't realise you knew each other" Mr Barnes proclaims, looking between Chris and Finn in confusion.

"He used to teach me here, but we bumped into each other at the pub and became friends. There's no law of ex-teachers having friendships and relationships with ex-pupils, is there?" Chris asks, his voice high pitched and a little eccentric.

"Not that I'm aware of" Mr Barnes replies, a little taken aback by the force of Chris's response. He really shouldn't have included 'relationship' in that rant.

Not because I'm worried anyone will find out about Finn and I. Judging from the look on Mr Barnes's face, I have a strong suspicion that he now believes Finn and Chris are in a relationship.

"There we go then" Chris huffs, and I have to hide a smirk. I don't think Finn has even heard what Chris has said because he hasn't taken his eyes off of me since the moment he came into the room.

"I'll leave you be" Mr Barnes says, and exits the room again.

The moment the door closes behind him, Finn reaches out and wraps his arms around me. I feel his lips kiss the top of my head and I bring my arms up around him.

"Are you alright?" He murmurs into my head, and I nod. He lets go of me to look at me, brushing his thumb over my cut lip gently.

"Yes, I'm alright" I respond to him, and lean up slightly to brush my lips against his. "I love you so much"

"I love you too, more than anything" He responds in a heartbeat, wrapping his arms around me again. I bury my face into his chest.

"Come on man, that's my sister!" Chris complains, and Finn releases me, but keeps one arm wrapped around me. "I just protected you! I don't want to see that!"

"Thank you" Finn tells Chris, and I can't repress my giggle this time.

"You know Mr Barnes totally now thinks the two of you are dating, right?" I point out, and both Chris and Finn look at me perplexedly. "I'm serious"

"Well, no offence, but you're not my type" Chris huffs, and I laugh out loud this time. Finn looks disgusted at the notion of being involved with Chris and I can't help but smile. Chris checks his watch "We should get going if you're wanting to go to the police station today"

"I can drive you, if you like" Finn offers, and I nod, turning to Chris.

"Of course, it'd probably help. I can nip home then and let Gemma know what is going on, and I'll meet you at the police station at say, 3 'o' clock?" Chris replies and I nod.

"Sounds like a good plan" I tell him. We all begin to walk out of the school, and when we reach the car park, Chris bids us farewell.

"I'm parked over here" Finn tells me, and we head towards his car. I slide into the passenger seat, grateful to be sitting down again. My entire body just feels exhausted.

"How are you feeling?" He asks me when we begin driving. I twist my body in the passenger seat so I'm facing him.

"I'm okay. I'm tired, but I think that's just because there's no more adrenaline" I tell him, and he nods.
