You were just that one kid who sits at the back of the class listening to music and doodling. You never really expected something exciting to happen to you at all, let alone on the most average Friday of your life. You walked to school with your headphones on, your music so loud that everyone else could probably hear it clearly, well you're doing them a favor, your music is the best. You couldn't really tell but you were humming along to the tune of the song. A specific purple haired girl was amused by your humming and how happy you seemed while listening to your music.

You made sure that you changed your shoes before class, you had already gotten in trouble for that the day before. You stood in a corner in the hall listening to music and scrolling through social media until class started. You took off your headphones for a few minutes while you were walking to class. As soon as you got to class 3-2 you took your usual spot near the back of class. You tried to pay attention to what the teacher was saying but it just got boring so you put on your headphones.

"...I can't help falling in love with you..." (Lmao sorry I had to) You hadn't noticed that you were singing along to your music. You also didn't notice that you were staring at Kokona, honestly you were just staring off into space. You ended up singing the majority of the song while staring at Kokona. Since you were staring off into space you didn't notice that she was staring right back at you with a huge blush and an admiring grin. The teacher walked over and lightly slapped the back of your head. You took off your headphones and looked up to the teacher.

"Now is not the time to romantically serenade your classmates. Please start paying attention in my class before you fail." Your teacher said and walked back to the front of the class to write more things on the blackboard. Romantically serenade? You literally didn't do anything. Well, you were pretty sure you didn't do anything. Well if it was true and you were accidentally singing, you hoped that you sounded at least half decent. Otherwise you might have been even less popular than you already are, if that's even possible.

Once class was over you started heading over to your locker to grab your lunch. You were so hungry, you practically ran over to your locker. But to be fair, you were always hungry. You opened up your locker and went to grab your lunch but you grabbed a paper instead. You opened up the pink paper in confusion. It said something about meeting someone at the cherry tree in the back of the school. You folded up the paper and shoved it in your bra because there was no pockets on the damn school uniform. You grabbed your sandwich out of your locker and closed it.

"Oh hey, ___________. I uhh.. I think I saw someone put something in your locker earlier today." Kokona smiled at you while walking over to you. She stood really close to you, like closer than she stands next to Saki. But you felt completely comfortable being this close to her. And you barely ever feel comfortable being really really close to someone else. Kokona seemed to be looking at you, trying to see if you had the piece of paper with you.

"Oh you mean this?" You asked and pulled the piece of paper out of your bra. Kokona nodded at you and her smile grew. "It says some shit about someone wanted to meet me at the back off school at the end of the day." You said opening the note again to show Kokona. You had no idea why anyone would want to meet you after school in such a specific location, let alone why anyone would ever want to talk to you for longer than they need to. Maybe the entire thing was just a set up for a prank. That seemed like the most likely thing. But you were still going to go anyway. Even if they do play a prank on you, it's the weekend after that so you'll have two days to think of a way to make it up to them.

"The cherry tree... Hmm... I heard that it's bad luck not to go when someone asks you to meet them there. I also heard that if someone confesses their love there, it means they're soul mates." Kokona apparently heard a lot of things about the cherry tree at the back of the school. Though I guess it was normal for schools to all have one legend about something.

"I don't really believe in soul mates." You said and shrugged, folding the paper back up and putting it back in your bra. Soul mates and love at true sight were just dumb things that people use as plot in trashy mom romance books. It's not like they actually exist in real life, or is really worth anything either. Soul mates are probably the dankest thing in media. Even faker than all those scenes in action movies where cars make impossible jumps.

"Oh." Kokona gave you a disappointed smile and started walking away from you. What was wrong with her? Anyway, you found an empty hall to eat lunch and watched YouTube videos while eating. When you were done eating there was a few minutes left of lunch so you decided to walk around the school until the bell rang. You went back to class and tried your hardest not to take out your headphones in case you get in trouble again. You were thinking about the note all class. Thinking about who gave it to you and why they would. Kokona said it was because someone wanted to confess their love of some dumb shit like that. It probably wasn't true but it was still fun to imagine that someone has a crush on you. When the bell rang you started making your way to the back of the school. There was no one standing under the cherry tree that you could see so when you got up the hill you just say under the tree. You hadn't noticed that you fell asleep until you felt someone tap your shoulder.

"I know you said you don't believe in soul mates but..." Kokona said and handed you a letter with a heart on it. You looked at her confused for a second before realizing what it was. It was a love letter. Kokona was the one who put the note in your locker and she got upset when you said you don't believe in soul mates because she was going to confess her love to you. You opened the letter and it had some generic love poem thing with seven paragraphs of her trying to express her feelings for you. Without hesitation, you grabbed the sides of Kokona's face and pulled her close to you and kissed her. You pulled away after a few seconds and giggled when you saw that her entire was face was bright red and she had a huge grin on her face.

By the feeling in your stomach you could tell that the way you view soul mates has changed forever. You now believe in souls mates because you were sure that you had found your's.
