It was the day after Joshua had beaten Koga. He checked his map, seeing where he would have to go next. he could head back to Viridean City, but the it was right next to where he would need to go for the league, so he decided to head far south, towards Cinnabar island. The most direct route was to go south, from pallet town. But he had no way of getting there unless he could....Fly.
Leaving the pokecenter, he called Inferno out. He had never done this, but always wanted to. He climbed on Inferno's back, letting Inferno get used to the extra weight. Suddenly, Inferno skyrocketed, taking a screaming Joshua with him. They finally leveled out, heading towards where Joshua pointed where Pallet town should be.
"Inferno, please, don't do that again." Joshua managed to get out, finding out he had a slight fear of heights. He wasn't sure, but he could swear he heard Inferno chuckle. He looked through his pokedex, searching for a way to evolve his new water type. he found the way to do it was with a water stone, so they made a quick detour to Celedon city to get one. Joshua grabbed the last one in stock, stashing it away for when the time is right, before they took off again for home.
Pallet town Finally came into view, and Inferno landed. He visited home and Oak, who told him That Red was likely fighting for his last badge. Joshua knew he needed to hurry, and called out his Pollywhorl.
"Look, Inferno needs to rest his wings, and You are a pretty powerful swimmer. there is an Island south of here, think you can get us there?" Joshua asked, his pokemon agreeing. They set sail, seeing land within ten minutes. once they got there, They learned the Gym was locked, and only a key would open it. Looking around, Joshua noticed an old mansion.
"I'd bet my dinner the key is in there." The boy said, walking towards the place.
Once inside, he half expected a nice looking place to live, but what he got was a run down place that had been abandoned for years. He walked around, finding Dittos everywhere, and some really creepy looking statues. Leaning against one, a piece of the wall opened up, showing another path.
Joshua went where the switch opened, the floor creaking underneath him. He found a few looters inside, trying to steal anything that looked like it could be valuable. He beat them, and eventually found a red key.
"well, I better get goiIIIIIIIINNNNNGG!" He yelled, the floor giving way underneath him.
When he landed, his leg hurt. he looked at it, and it was looking normal. He got up, looking around. he found what looked like an old lab, with some burned notes on the table.
"Feb. 1. Mew gave birth. we called the new species mewtwo."
He found another set of notes. "Mewtwo has become violent, escaping the lab and fleeing the island. We wanted to create the worlds strongest pokemon. We did." It was just those two barely readable pages, but it gave Joshua numerous questions. "Who or what was a mew, or mewtwo for that matter?" he asked out loud, nobody around to hear or answer him. the other pages were burned beyond reading. He got up and left, walking away. He found a secret set of stairs that led back up, keeping a mental picture of the odd statues in the mansion. He left with the key to his seventh badge, and a lot of questions.
