Joshua flew on the back of Inferno towards Viridian city, needing his last gym badge. His thoughts were jumbled. This was it. one last battle before the pokemon league. He thought about everything he's done thus far. The gyms he fought, the team he built, the trainers he beat. He even went head to head with Giovanni, the Rocket leader. He thought about all of these with pride, and soon landed at his destination.
Entering the gym, he felt something was....off. Sure, everyone looked like regular people, but something just didn't sit right with him. "Too late to turn back now. Let's finish this." He muttered to himself. he walked on, figuring out the frustrating puzzle and battling everyone inside. he left once to heal, then found the Gym leader, and he was stunned.
"Fwahahahaha! Welcome to my hideout. It shall be so until I can restore Team Rocket to it's former glory. But you found me again." Giovanni stated, looking at the boy who's caused so much trouble.
"How? How can you own a gym? You know what? I don't care. Let's finish this old man!" Joshua challenged, Giovanni smiling.
"So be it. This time I'm not holding back! Once more, you shall face Giovanni, the greatest trainer! And this time, nobody will be around to save you." Giovanni declared, getting in his battle ready stance.
"One last thing. While I do admire your courage, boy, I have grown tired of this game of ours. I'm a man of business, so I have a deal." Giovanni stated, Joshua listening. "Should you win, Team rocket will disband, and cause no more trouble. But when you lose, You will surrender all of your pokemon, and never interfere with team Rocket again." Giovanni offered.
Joshua thought about this, calling out his entire team. They discussed this, all six of his team willing to take that chance.
"Deal. Let's battle!" Joshua cried out, and the battle began.
Joshua sent out Polywrath first, the same time Giovanni sent out his Rhyhorn.
"You're getting predictable. Use SURF!" Joshua yelled, his pokemon calling forth a massive wave to crash down on enemies. Rhyhorn was slammed into the wall, K'Od.
"Thought this would be a fight, not a slapping contest." Joshua mocked, and Giovanni smirked.
"Dugtrio, go." And a Dugtrio came out, using earthquake. Polywrath was knocked off balance, but was still on his feet. "Earthquake again!" And the ground shook as soon as Polywrath got up. "Slash!" and at this, Dugtrio surged forward, (Somehow) slashing Polywrath, K'Oing him.
"Where's that mouth of yours boy? I don't here any talking." Giovanni taunted, Joshua getting nervous. "Persian, Let's go!" Joshua yelled, sending out his Persian. "Shadow ball, rapid fire!" He yelled, his Persian shooting out several small shadow balls.
"Dig." Giovanni countered, and Dugtrio went underground, dodging at attack.
"Oh great, like I needed another problem." Joshua muttered, Dugtrio coming out of the ground surprising him. Persian was hit hard, but still barely stood. "Shadow ball, rapid shot!" Joshua had an idea. "Dig again." Giovanni countered.
"Shadowball, rapid shot into the hole!" Joshua yelled out, his Persian making the ground explode with Dugtrio in the air. "Shadowball, full power. Give it everything you got!" Joshua yelled. His Persian Jumped, using shadow ball point blank and firing it. Dugtrio went down hard. Persian landed, but also almost went down. Joshua recalled him, giving him a break.
Now Joshua was worried. Most of his team that could still battle wouldn't last long against ground types.
Nidoqueen was sent out, and Joshua decided to go king vs queen, and sent out Nino.
They both used earthquake, destroying the ground. They were both also heavily injured, neither one able to stand completely up. Then, Nidoqueen used takedown. Joshua had an idea, but it would probably leave Nino out of the fight. he had no choice.
"Mega horn!" And Nino charged in, slamming Nidoqueen with his horns. They both went down, and neither got back up.
Then, Giovanni sent out his own Nidoking.
"I will admit, yours is strong. so I got one myself." Giovanni stated, Joshua gritting his teeth.
"Victreebel, Go!" Joshua sent out his Grass type, hoping to do some damage.
"Eartquake." Giovanni stated.
"Use your vines to get off the ground, then use Razor leaf!" Joshua said, his pokemon swinging up using his vines and support beams, before raining down sharp green blades everywhere.
Nidoking was injured, but wouldn't go down easily. "Takedown, Go!" Giovanni yelled, his Nidoking responding, slamming into victreebel with enough force to send it flying into the wall, K'Oing it. The recoil however took out both pokemon, leaving Giovanni with only one left.
"This is it boy! I am tired of your constant interference in our plans. it's time for you to loose BOY!" Giovanni yelled, sending out his Rhydon.
"Great, nothing to counter it..." Joshua thought.
"Inferno, GO!" he said, sending out his Charizard. "If I can't hurt you to much, the least I can do is make sure you can't hit us." Joshua yelled out, Giovanni scowling.
"Flamethrower!" Joshua yelled, before Inferno let loose a flame that could melt steel. Rhydon took the flame, going down on one knee. "Rock blast!" Giovanni yelled, his Rhydon shooting out rocks that slammed into Inferno.
Inferno went down, hitting the ground hard. He managed to get back up, slowly. Rhydon was panting heavily, skin steaming.
"Inferno, if we don't do this, it could be the end. Use Blast Burn!" Joshua yelled, his Charizard heating up, then releasing a massive fiery blast than knocked Rhydon into the far wall, finishing it. Inferno was breathing heavily, kneeling. Joshua felt the effects, going down on all fours, his skin stinging and heavily blistered. He healed quickly, and he had a thought occurred. It was over. Team Rocket was no more.
"Ha! That was truly an intense fight." He starts, walking over and handing Joshua the last gym badge he needed. Joshua took it, prepared Giovanni would betray him. All he had left was Raichu, and he was certain that he couldn't take on all of Team Rocket with just his Raichu, as the rest of his pokemon were in no shape for a getaway. He shakily stood up, skin still stinging a little, but he was cooling down. Inferno came over, tired, but ready to defend his trainer.
"You have won. I am a man of my word. from this day forward, Team Rocket is no more. Good bye, Joshua. And good luck." Giovanni said, walking towards the wall behind them and opening it, calling off all Rocket squads. Joshua left, shaky as he was still getting used to the effects of blast burn. His body would heal the wounds quicker than normal, as he and his pokemon shared the burden. but that doesn't mean it didn't sting.
Once healed up, Joshua called everyone out.
"Guys, we did it. We won. We beat the Rockets, they're no more. Next up, the Indigo Plateau!" Joshua cheered, raising his fist. The rest of his Pokemon did the same, roaring and raising their fists (or paws in Persians case).
