Just an inspiring quote of the day I found randomly on the Internet when my friend was feeling down. Think positive about your life!
Beware, this chapter is especially long for no apparent reason.
You were mad. At Near, Mello, the world, and everything had to shit in your face all the time. First your memories of your past was fuzzy, then your blankets smell like shit, then Near became relatively more boring from the Kira case, and now this. Your leaving Wammy's house.
Your only real family so far.
You bonded so much with everybody here, Near, Mello, and Matt especially but you also met a lot of new people, like Riley and Alex. Now that you think about it, you know 147 names in the orphanage, aliases of course.
You'll miss a lot of stuff here.
Stuff you didn't even realize you liked until now.
You'll miss gossiping about Roger behind his back. And playing robots with Near, and stealing Mello's chocolate, and having midnight chats with Matt. You'll miss seeing Near eat his meals in alphabetical order, or listening to the duo argue, or hiding Matt's game consoles. You'll miss the midnight strolls through the orphanage, eating midnight snacks, and getting everybody mad when you accidentally fell and contaminated all the food and everybody starved for a day.
You miss your chair too.
Near never gave it back.
Maybe you should take your chair with you when you leave.
Why were you leaving? Because right now L is asking you to help in the famous Kira case, since it's getting complicated when most of the Japanese police force quit. Even though he says he has a few loyal members of the Task Force, he says not all of them are particularly useful. You suggest it's better if his successors help him instead, but he says he can't risk his best successors to die before him, and there's a lot more stalking and stealth in this case that his successors are not capable of doing. He also told you pack everything that is your belongings because your probably not coming back to Wammy's.
You were so excited about helping L, but you were more depressed. Actual statistics: You were 31% excited, 56% sad, and 13% conflicted feelings.
"Bye Near." You say when you packed all your stuff. He was finishing the last of his 10,000 piece puzzle.
"Farewell, Anything." He says, not even looking at you. This thought made you a bit sad.
"Hey Near, I know you hate human contact but since I'm going and I'm your friend, can I have a hug?"
He hesitates before replying, "Do as you want. It's the last time in a long while I'll see you." You smile and hug him. He drops his puzzle piece and tenses but automatically relaxes.
