"So what does this mean?" Emmett asked as they sat on the couch in his room.

Aleida looked at him lovingly before answering. "The elders have already given you there blessing, but I have yet to tell the pack."

Emmett froze and looked t her sadly. "The pack?"

"Do not fret, Emily has assured me all will be well." Aleida pat his arm before focusing back on the controller in her hand.

He had been trying to teach her video games, but she kept getting flustered.

"Emily has said that family cannot just abandon family. She won't let it happen again." She had a determined glint in her eyes as she spoke.

"So you're going to tell them?" his voice was filled with hope.

"I was planning on waiting until after the fight," her voice was a mere whisper as she brushed her hand through his soft curls. "They aren't your biggest fans at the moment, especially Paul."

"Isn't he the one that shoved me into the stream?" Irritation filling his voice.

"You were the one breaking the treaty."

"To catch a mutual enemy!" He argued.

"Regardless of that fact, the treat was established because they wish to protect their people," she explained. "You are their natural enemy, you cannot expect them to be lenient."

Emmett gaped at her. "Mutual enemy!"

"You are an enemy as well though. They have seen their people die because of your kind, and until you have witnessed the death of your own, you have no right to be upset o the mater," her voice held no room for argument. "Even if you have a mutual enemy," she mocked.

He continued to watch her, taking in her every world. He had heard the storied from Bella, with Carlisle occasional input, but he never quite believed it before. "Did you really watch your village be attacked?"

Aleida stiffened at his side. "Fire burns down wood and people alike if it is fast and hot enough. I remember watching it burn from afar for days as I continued to flee. Every one I had ever known was taken from me that day. I can only trust that the gods have honored them well."

He gently embraced her, giving her the only comfort he knew how to give. His jokes and playful attitude never prepared him to feel this kind of pain or sorrow, never prepared him to comfort someone.

"I am alright Emmett," she told him as she leaned into his tough, loving the cool feel of him against her. "It was a long time ago, it has past, I have mourned."

"But still, I wasn't there for you," he murmured, sticking his face into her hair.

Aleida hummed lightly, holding him close as he berated himself for not being there to help her through her pain. "I was still a young girl then, you were still a new born. Things would not have turned out well."

Emmett held her unbelievably closer and breathed in her scent. The pair sat in silence for a few moments, enjoying the others company. There was something about being with your other half that gave you an unconditional amount of comfort. Aleida knew that she would never feel this content with anyone else no matter how hard she tried.

"You are going to have to get a bed." Aleida broke the silence, her voice a whisper. "I do not care where you feed either, but you better not be leaving any dead animals in the woods. I will not tolerate it."

The boy laughs heartily. He looked to his mate with pure adoration shinning in his eyes. This good was going to drive him crazy.

"No dead animals. Got it."

Aleida nodded in content. "You will also be cleaning after every hunt before seeing me. I don't care if it's not needed, you will do it anyways. I don't mind that you need to eat innocent, adorable little animals, but I don't want to be reminded of it."

He looked at her in disbelief before grudgingly agreeing. Emmett could barely hold back a smile as he saw her beaming up at him.

"If it makes you happy, I guess it won't be a big deal,"he attempts to play it off. Aleida simply gives him a knowing look.

"Wonderful," she beamed before wiggling away from him and standing. "Someone has been waiting to speak with you, I belief."

"What-"

"They've been slowing, basically hovering, every time they reach your door. I can tell by the vibrations in the wood. Honestly, aren't you meant to have extraordinary hearing?" She teased playfully, sending him a wink.

On cue, Alice flit into the room. She moved to Aleida's side and pulled her into a hug, not minding how she stiffened slightly. She didn't mind who her soulmate was, but she was still wary of his family. They were still vampires, even if they were well behaved.

"Hello," Aleida spoke politely.

Alice pulled away and gave her a dazzling smile. Her arms were still wrapped around the girl loosely. "I was actually waiting to speak with you," the female vampire chimed.

"May I inquire as to why?"

"Well," she started cautiously. "I might have gone shopping for you. I only got things I saw you wearing though."

Aleida's face was blank. "Shopping? As in the places that one purchases things in a town? Like where Emily goes for food?" he voice was timid.

It was a surpise to the vampires, a reminder of how little she knows of the world. Despite her being alive for a while, she tended to stay out of society. She was still behind on many things.

"Yes," Alice told her. "Except I got you clothes."

"Clothes?" Aleida's voice wavered. "For me? You didn't have to do that."

Alice held the girl closer. "You're family now."

Emmett moved closer to his mate and placed his hand on the small of her back. She leaned back against him and cherished his touch.

"Will you be leaving these clothes in his room? I don't imagine he has much of a variety."

Alice laughs lightly before dragging the girl by the hand to try some things on.
