Chapter 16

Harry parks in the staff parking area of Louisville zoo, then he and Rose exit his truck. Harry didn't want to tell Rose how nervous he was about this, but he was sure she could tell. She kept looking at him and he wasn't saying much.

Rose could tell Harry was uncomfortable with what they were about to do, hell she was too. She's never worked with an animal like this before, but she needed to stay as calm as she could in order for her to do her job but right now Harry wasn't helping much. Right before walking into the back entrance of the zoo, Rose stops and turns, looking up at Harry waiting for him to look back at her.

Harry knew Rose wanted to talk about what was about to happen, but he was scared something bad was going to happen, he just didn't realize how scared he was until he looks down at her and snaps out. "What the fuck do you want?"

Rose gasps and takes a step back shocked at the way Harry is speaking to her. Blinking back the tears that sprang to her eyes, Rose shook her hear and whispers. "Never mind." Then turns and starts to walk away.

"Didn't think so." Harry mutters as he walks in front of her, ignoring her until they get to the tigers enclosure.

Rose looks at the animal that she's going to be dealing with, she watches the way he's pacing his enclosure. Rose knows this is dangerous and the way she's feeling right now she can't do her job properly. Harry has her to emotional.
"Excuse me, please." Rose chokes out. "I'll be right back." She says before leaving the room quickly. Rose ducks into the female restroom they passed on the way in, locks the door and sits in the floor and bursts into tears.

Harry is standing there beside the woman he loves, watching a huge, wild tiger pace it's cage knowing Rose was about to walk in there and try to calm that thing down so he could go in and make sure he was healthy. Harry couldn't help but think of all the things that could go wrong when he hears Rose say she will be right back. Hell anyone with ears could hear the tears in her voice and Harry knew he was the cause, looking toward her he sees her wipe a tear away as she walks out the door. Now Harry felt like a total ass for the way he was acting. He knew she needed to be as calm and relaxed as possible for this to work and here he was being a jerk, upsetting her. Turning Harry walks out the door to see if he can find her. When Harry sees the bathroom sign he walks up and knocks on the door.
"Rose? Baby, please open the door." When Harry hears the lock click he opens the door and steps in. Seeing Rose sitting on the floor crying breaks his heart. "Damn." Harry whispers as he sits down and pulls Rose onto his lap. "I'm so sorry. Baby, I'm just so scared something bad is going to happen. I didn't mean to take it out on you."

"Harry you know I have to be as clear minded and calm as I can be, and with you on edge snapping at me I can't do my job." Rose sniffs. "If you're upset so am I, hurt I'm hurt. It's something I've noticed recently. You have to be calm also when we're working together, if your not it just makes my job that much harder." Rose tells him.

"Wait, are you telling me, when we're working together, you can feel what I feel? My emotions?" Harry asks Rose, surprised at what she's saying.

"Yes." Rose says, nodding. "Don't asks me how or why, or even when it started. I noticed it shortly after I got out of the hospital."

"Amazing." Harry says. "Okay, let's get this done, I promise to calm down and clear my mind so you can do the same. But if we, at any time, start talking to each other without actually speaking, we're getting married right away." Harry laughs as he stands up.

Rose chuckles. "Deal." She says as she walks back toward the tigers cage.

About 5 minutes into the drive home, Harry glances over at Rose, reaches out and grabs her hand. "What are you thinking?" He asks her quietly.

"That I can't believe that just happened." Rose whispers. "Seriously, Harry, we were just in a cage with a deadly tiger and he just laid there purring like a house cat. Who would have thought when you were done with examing him he would want to cuddle up to us like he did." Rose laughs.

"We do make a pretty good team don't we." Harry smiles.

Rose looks at Harry, then undoes her seat belt and slides closer to him. "Yeah we do." She says as she lays her head on his shoulder. "Harry? Can I tell you something without scaring you."

Harry looks down at Rose just as she looks up at him. Thinking this was going to be important Harry pulls over to the side of the road and put his truck into park, he then turns slightly so he's facing Rose. "Babe you can say anything you want." He says.

Rose turns so she's looking right at Harry. Taking a deep breath she tells him what's been on her mind for weeks. "I know we've only been living together for a month, but I love you. You don't have to agree if you don't want to, but I want to have a baby." Rose says looking down.

Harry is shocked. That's not what he was expecting her to say, he's happy though. "Rose, look at me please." Harry whispers. When she looks back up he sees the tears in her eyes matching his. "You do know if you are pregnant you will have to cut back on what we do now, give up the more dangerous cases?" Harry says.

"Only when I get further along, the first few months I should be fine. It's when I get big I'll have to stop, yes I know." Rose says. "I've thought of all that, but Harry, I don't care. I want to have your baby. You make enough money for us to live on until I can go back to work." Rose says.

Harry pulls Rose to him and buries his face in her hair and cries. "God, Rose. I love you so much, hell yes I want you to have my baby, but we have one small problem." Harry smiles.

"What?" Rose asks.

"Steph sleeps with us. That's going to put a damper on our baby making time." Harry grins.

"Harry, I do believe you have another house we can sneak off to when we want to." She whispers against his lips, then giggles when she sees his eyes widen.

"Well hell, why didn't I think of that." Harry mutters as he kisses her.
