Pan and I made our way to the edge of camp, and there Jacob was, oddly dressed in the same green tunic Pan was wearing.
"Well that's off-putting," I whispered.
Jacob flew upwards and suspended in the air, looking over all the lost boys.
"Not as off-putting as that," Pan replied.
I turned to Pan,
"Maybe I should just confront him."
"No, he could be dangerous. He's not the Jacob you knew, he's full of dark magic now."
"I got through to you, didn't I?"
Pan paused for a bit and replied,
"I guess, if anyone could do any convincing it would be you, but I don't want you to get hurt."
"I'll be fine, I can handle things. And if things get really bad, I'll give you a shout."
He narrowed his eyebrows at me but finally replied,
"Okay. I don't see Felix there so I'm going to see if he escaped before Jacob took control. I'll be close by."
I nodded before we went our separate ways. I walked into the opening of the campsite and said softly,
"Jacob?"
The lost boys looked and gasped when they saw me. Jacob whipped his head around and flew to the floor.
"___," he said unconvinced I was really there.
He ran over and wrapped his arms around me, but his embrace was no longer the warm hug of an old friend, but the cold touch of a stranger.
He looked around suspiciously,
"Does that mean Pan his here too?"
"I'm going to be honest with you, because I want you to know you can trust me. Yes, he's here."
"Bloody hell. I swear I'm going to rip his heart out and crush it when I see him," he said aggressively.
I said a little fearfully,
"What happened to you?"
He gave a scary grin and replied,
"Power..."
"Oh."
He strolled away from me, but motioned to follow him. I uncomfortably trailed behind him as he lead me into one of the tree-houses, specifically the one I had stayed in when I first arrived.
He pushed a chair forward,
"Go ahead, take a seat."
I sat and looked around the room. Everything was as I left it, even the enchanted dress Pan had given me still hung on the hook in the corner.
Jacob did a quick spin, showing off his tunic, and said,
"So, how do you like the new Peter Pan?"
I ignored his question and said,
"Jacob, I don't know if—"
I was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in." He stated.
One of the lost boys, looking petrified, inched forward and handed Jacob a small sack.
"What is this?" Jacob asked angrily.
"That's all we could get today." The lost boy replied with almost no voice.
Jacob glared and said,
"I give you a whole day to find as much fairy dust as you can...and this is what you bring back?"
"I'm really sorry, I promise—"
"Yeah, yeah. You can promise all you want, but promising doesn't get me more fairy dust. Now go downstairs and inform the others that you're all working through the night."
The boy sadly nodded and quietly left the treehouse.
"Fairy dust?" I questioned.
"Yep. More fairy dust equals more magic, and more magic equals more power."
I frowned in disgust and added,
"And just how are they getting this fairy dust?"
"Oh that doesn't really matter now. What matters now is that you're here! And I want you to stay with me."
"Wait...what?"
"I want you to be the Queen of Neverland. I want to be with you, ___."
I attempted to hide the shock on my face, but it was obviously noticeable because he added,
"You wouldn't have to work a day in your life. And you could live forever here, we have enough fairy dust. You could have everything you've ever wanted, all you have to do is say yes."
I stood up and backed away towards the door.
"You're crazy," I said with my hand on the knob.
He snapped his fingers and we were on the ground, outside of the treehouse.
"___, if you change you're mind...you know where to find me. Something tells me you will, I know you have a thing for guys in green tunics." He said before pulling me towards him and kissing me.
I pushed away and punched his face.
I yelled angrily before walking away,
"You may be the new King of Neverland, but you will never be Peter Pan!"
