I walked back through the jungle walked past Pan, still angry at Jacob.
"What did he say?" Pan said turning and following me.
I stopped in my tracks and looked at him.
"I'm guessing it didn't go well." Pan added.
I broke down and a tear ran down my cheek,
"Pan, I don't even know him anymore..."
He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead,
"___, I'm sorry...he didn't hurt you did he?"
Pan was now looking at me with his brows raised.
I thought about the kiss Jacob stole, and how Pan would freak when he found out...maybe even kill Jacob. I learned that Pan's temper wasn't a side effect of the darkness, it was just his personality. Separating him from the darkness was like getting to know him all over again; learning which traits were the darkness, and which were really him.
"I'm fine," I replied simply.
There was no need to tell Pan about it. A kiss only means something when the person kisses back...right?
"Good. I swear, if he so much as lays a finger on you..."
"Relax. I'm safe." I said before kissing him lightly.
He pulled me against his chest and said,
"I know, it's just...I don't know what I would do if you weren't here."
I held his hand and replied,
"I'm not going anywhere."
I heard rustling through the trees and a unforgettable chuckle,
"Break up the love fest here. I'm not going to tolerate being a third wheel."
I turned and a smile spread across my face,
"Felix!" I said as I ran and hugged him.
"Alright Guniea Pig, get off me."
I smiled and replied,
"I missed you."
He smiled back and said while looking at both me and Pan,
"It's been too long."
"I found Felix and a couple more lost boys on the beach." Pan explained.
"We were on our way to Skull Island. I'm trying to find a way to overthrow this bloody shithead who calls himself the King of Neverland, though we haven't got any information on him." Felix added.
"I have some info, but not much." I said recalling what Jacob has said.
"We'll it's more than I've got, spill it."
"He's obtaining fairy dust to become more powerful, but I have no idea how."
"Is that it?" Pan questioned while narrowing his brows and looking at the ground. This was his signature thinking face.
"Yeah, like I said I didn't find out much." I replied.
"This still helps. At least we know part of what his plan is, and we know what he wants—fairy dust."
"Well...that's not exactly all he wanted." I muttered under my breath.
Felix looked at me,
"Well, what else? What else does he want?"
I took a deep breath (anticipating Pan's temper) and replied,
"He asked me to stay with him."
Pan looked up and said sternly,
"No. I refuse to let that happen."
I put my hand on his shoulder and assured him,
"And it's not going to..."
Felix's eyes lit up,
"Are you both kidding? This is a good thing. If she stays with him, she gains his trust. And that's how we take him down, from the inside."
Pan replied in a harsh voice,
"Felix, no."
I looked at Pan and he said,
"___, I know what you're thinking, and no, you're not doing that. It's too dangerous."
"Pan, that's the only way to take him down, or at least gain more information on him. I'm not helpless, I can do this." I said staring at his scared eyes.
There was a brief silence as he sorted through all the thoughts racing through his head. He closed his eyes and pinched the brim of his nose,
"Alright, fine. But only as a last resort. We find another way first and if it doesn't work, only then will we send ___ in there."
Felix rolled his eyes and replied,
"Pan, you are such a softie for her."
I blushed and Pan punched him in the arm. Felix winced in pain and said,
"I should've seen that coming."
I laughed and Pan smirked as we continued onward through the jungle...
