I peered around the tree and watched as one of Jacob's "workers" headed my way. I took a deep breath and put a temporary sleeping spell on him as he passed by. He dropped to the ground, as if he as lifeless. I let out a sigh of relief after checking his pulse and dragged him behind the tree. After a couple sad attempts at carrying him, I used magic to suspend him in the air and follow me as I walked back to our camp.
Felix gave a smirk and said,
"Nice work Guinea Pig."
I gently set the guy down and replied as I began to tie him to a tree,
"I try."
Pan appeared in a cloud of smoke, with five of Jacob's workers.
Felix let out a laugh and added,
"Apparently not as hard as him."
I rolled my eyes and said,
"Okay, now you're just showing off."
Pan shrugged his shoulders and replied,
"Unfortunately, not the first time I've kidnapped someone."
That night we attempted to get some information out of them. Not surprisingly, Jacob had been keeping them against their will.
"All we know his that he's using the fairy dust to gain power," one of them said.
Felix responded annoyed,
"Yes we know that. What is he planning to do with the power...what does he need it for?"
"I'm really not sure, I'm sorry."
Felix put his hand to his forehead and said,
"Well this is fucking fantastic. Nobody knows shit about what this bastard is doing."
I could tell Felix was losing his patience, he always swore more when he was frustrated.
"Let's just call it a night. We could all use some rest," I stated.
Felix sighed and walked back to his tent.
Pan and I cast spells on the workers' ropes so they couldn't be broken and lied down by the fire.
"I couldn't believe what they were saying about Jacob. He's not the same person he was," I said looking at the stars.
"It's the darkness. It makes you do horrible things." Pan replied wrapping his arms around me.
"Do you ever miss it? The darkness?" I said half-fearing his answer.
He was silent for a bit before responding,
"No, I hate the things I did...that I couldn't control. But before I met you, it was all I ever knew."
"I'm sorry."
"What on earth do you have to be sorry for?"
I shrugged my shoulders,
"Not meeting you sooner I guess."
He kissed me and said,
"You're here now, that's all that matters."
