My thoughts scramble when I hear a knock at the door.
"Who is it?" I yell.
"It's the police," a deep husky, yet familiar voice yells.
I walk over to the front door, and open it, to find the same tall, hispanic-looking officer that had interogated me because of the school bus incident,standing next to a very, statuesque looking woman, with dark bouncy curls staring very intently at me.
The mug I'm holding almost slips between my fingers, as I finally recognize the woman. "Mom?," I say startled.
My mom, turns to the officer and sais," See, Emilio, she's just playing around, it's not the first time she's done something like this, but please give her a chance, I'll take careof this.
Her voice, her soft,silky voice, sends chills through my body. Something about her appearance rattles me to the bones, her gaze.... is almost murderous.
"Okay, Maryse, I'll let this one go." he sais as he turns to me," and you," he points at me," stay out of trouble, you hear."
I nod ever so slightly, when my mom stares at me and sais," Say thank you to the officer, Allison, don't be rude." she sais almost casually.
"Oh," I say startled," Thank you."
He nods and walks back to his police cruiser, waving as he takes off.
It's probably, about one hundred degrees out, but I'm shivering uncontrolably as my mom ushers me inside, with all the care in the world, and shuts the door behind us.
