Esmee's POV:
I wandered around the place the wizards around here called 'the Commons' and stopped once I found myself in front of a tall building. "This must be the Headmaster's office," I said to myself. I heaved my bags inside and approached a tall old man wearing a wizards cloak, a glass eye, and holding a staff.

"Ah, you must be miss Esmee NightBlood," he said, observing me. I felt a little nervous and kind of shy around him, but since he's the Headmaster, I'm sure he's not bad or anything. He turned around and picked up a big, old looking book and blew the dust off of it. He then handed it to me. "Answer these questions to see what type of wizard you are.

I took the book out of his hands and opened it up. A quill lied inside and on each page there was a different question. I grabbed the quill and starting checking in the boxes next to each answer to every question. After I answered the last question, I turned the page again to see it blank, I tilted my head out of confusion. But then a black circle with a gold border with a skull in the middle of it appeared, and underneath it said 'School of Death.'

"A Death wizard, hmm?" The Headmaster quiestioned, and I handed the book back to him. "Then I hereby declare you, Esmee NightBlood of the Death school. And your first year starts now!" He waved his staff in the air and a cloud of smoke surrounded me. When the smoke disappeared, I saw that I wasn't wearing my normal clothes anymore, but a wizard robe, hat, and boots with Death school designs on it, and I noticed I was holding a Death wand in my hand.

I stared at myself in amazement. So this is what magic is like here... I thought. Right afterwards, a gray owl flew in and landed on a wooden post next to the Headmaster. "Now it's time to get you a dorm! Gamma, could you please show the young lady where she stays?" The Headmaster asked the owl, who was apparently named Gamma.

"Of course, why else would I fly in here at a time like this?" Gamma bowed with his wing and flew up into the air, leading me out of the Headmaster's office and through the Commons, until we arrived in a place called Ravenwood. He flew towards a tall building in a circular shape, and opened the door with his claws.

"Welcome to your new home, Miss Esmee-" Gamma started to welcome me, but was cut off by a high pitched squeal coming from the inside.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" Another girl wizard squealed in excitement, as she ran towards me and glomped me in a tight hug. I squeaked in surprise as she girl squeezed me to death.

"Can't......breathe....." I managed to say from my loss of air.

"Oh sorry!" She said and quickly let go of me, letting me catch my breath again. "I'm Tasha, your new roommate!" She said happily.

"I'm Esmee..." I said weakly, then i got the chance to look at her properly, she looked really familiar to me, as if I've seen her recently. "Hey...I know you! You're the girl from the school bus. We sat next to each other!" I pointed out.

"Oh! Now I remember you!" She giggled joyfully. "Well, I hope we can become friends. What do you say, Esmee?" She held out her hand. I was reluctant, but smiled and shook her hand.

"Sure." I said to her. She smiled brightly at me.

"Well, I'll leave you two to get settled in and get to know each other," Gamma said before grabbing the doorknob with his claws. "Good day, ladies." He said before flying off and closing the door.

"Well Esmee, it's pretty late. We should to bed.. I'll let you have the top bunk!" Tasha smiled.

"Late? It's only....." I walked over and picked up a clock next to the bunk bed. "9:45?" I tilted my head. I could have sworn it was morning when I got on the bus.

"Time works differently in the Spiral then the human world," Tasha shrugged. "Anyway. Let's get some sleep." She said, climbing into bed.

I smiled and climbed the ladder to the top bunk, and burrowed my way in under the warm blankets.

"Goodnight, Esmee!"

"Night, Tasha."
