The morning of my date with my brother, I told Luke I was going to stay at home studying. But that wasn’t what I really had planned.

I got up long before anyone at my house and grabbed my backpack that contained my Ivory Skywalker clothes, which had been hidden cleverly in my closet. I tiptoed my way out of the house and then I was gone.

The plan was that I was going to go to Gardenia’s house and she’d let me change there and then I was going to wait for Daniel outside, claiming that the house was where I lived.

Thankfully I was already outside when he arrived.

He grinned when he saw me. “You look cute today.”

“Are you trying to say I don’t look cute on other days?” I cocked an eyebrow at him.

He corrected himself. “You always look cute.”

He wrapped an arm around my waist and led me to his car. Gardenia was a bit startled I had a date with Daniel, but I explained to her that I supposedly needed to play along so he wouldn’t know I was his sister. He opened the car door for me and I climbed in with a polite smile. It had been so long since Daniel and I actually shared a happy moment together.

Still, I felt like I was betraying Luke.

And I probably was.

He took me to a beautiful lake far into the wilderness in Melbourne. It was a place we had only visited once with the family, when we were kids. It was peaceful and secluded, perfect for us because we didn’t want to be seen by the public.

He parked his car and I let him think he was leading me, although I knew exactly where we were going.

We sat on the ground before the clear water that was coming from a small, but majestic waterfall. The entire space was closed off by the shade of the trees and it seemed like no one ever really came here before. It was like our own personal little sanctuary where we could bask in the silence of each other’s company. My brother looked at me, I could see him from the corner of my eye, but I was too busy admiring the beauty of the lake.

“I once came here with my family when I was little.” He said, but I already knew that.

“Do you plan to get in the water? It looks pretty refreshing.” I nodded towards the clear body of water in front of us.

He smiled. “Yes.”

My lips smacked together to form a straight line. I couldn’t go in the water or I’d mess up my wig and I couldn’t take it off because he’d know I was his sister. I wracked my brain for any credible excuse. “I can’t. I didn’t bring a swim suit.”

He chuckled. “I’ve got that covered.” He reached into a small backpack he had brought along and grabbed something. He handed it to me and I unfolded it to see what it was. It was a swim suit. One of my swim suits. “You and my sister are probably the same size. Don’t worry, she hasn’t used this one yet.”
