(A/N: Sorry for taking five days to update this! :o Its all Jack & Finn Harries' faults. I've been spending too much time watching those sexy boys on youtube rather than working on updating my fanfiction. But here it is! I worked really hard on it. I even added a cute little youtuber from South Africa called Caspar Lee. Might as well have him in there since my characters needed a place to stay and their first destination was coincidently South Africa. You guys should check out his videos, he's awesome. He's DiCasp on youtube. Also, I am fully aware that Casper is actually living in London now. But this story takes place in about December 2012, which is when he was still living in South Africa. Anyway, please enjoy the chapter. Thank you for the support and thank you for reading! xoxo)
The first destination in our month long adventure around the world was South Africa. My dad told us he had an old friend from college that he wanted to visit and we’d be staying at his house for a few days. He also said most of our destinations were chosen because he had a friend there that he wanted to see. That clever father of mine.
I wasn’t too excited about South Africa though. It sounded strange to say I was going there.
There was just something about it that was appealing to me. Maybe it was the fact that I didn’t know much about the place. In my head, I imagined Africa being either the Sahara desert or a jungle full of wild animals. There was no way I had it in my head that I’d find civilized people living there. I thought I’d just find native tribes of people who live in tents made out of animal skin like I saw on MTV’s ‘Exiled’.
We got off the plane several hours after leaving the Melbourne airport. Dad told Skip and I to behave because his friend and his friend’s eighteen year old son were going to be the ones meeting us at the terminal.
We walked through the hallways of crowded people once we’d found our luggage. We were lost, confused and disoriented. I wanted nothing more than to throw myself on a mattress and fall asleep. That is until I saw my dad’s friend’s son. My eyes literally went wide open. Both of them held large signs that had our last name on them and I gasped in surprise. I grabbed onto Skip’s arm and shook it violently, saying, “Oh my gosh, Daniel. Do you see who that is? Tell me I’m not seeing things.”
“No.” He replied tiredly, pulling his arm away from my grasp. “You aren’t seeing things.”
“Its Caspar Lee.” I breathed. The words escaped my mouth in a tone of disbelief. I almost expected him to disappear and that I’d be in the middle of a desert, staring at a palm tree. But it wasn’t a mirage. It was one hundred percent real and he was here, with his dad who coincidently turned out to be a friend of my dad.
The five of us walked over to the man and his son. A smile formed on Mr. Lee’s face when he recognized my dad. He threw his arms out and exclaimed happily, “Gerard! Its been so long.”
My dad hugged his friend and replied. “Richard! My old friend.”
Both of them pulled away and Richard began with introductions, gesturing to Caspar who hadn’t said anything yet. “I want you all to meet my son, Caspar.”
I grinned, with excitement evident in my tone. “I know who he is! He’s that totally gorgeous boy from youtube. I mean…” I coughed awkwardly. “I have heard of Caspar Lee once or twice before, possibly.” I scratched the back of my head and looked around the crowded airport so they wouldn’t notice the blush on my face.
“You remember Susan don’t you? This is her mother, Begonia. And these are my two kids.” My dad said, slightly pushing Skip and I forward. I shook Richard’s hand and Skip did after me as well. When I got to Caspar, I froze completely like an idiot. A handsome guy like him standing right in front of me made me nervous. I wasn’t going to lie, I didn’t watch his videos incredibly often, but I did watch the majority of them at least once. I offered him my hand and when he didn’t take it, I looked up into his face for any sign of him not liking me or something. His face though, as always, was unreadable. He always has that same intense stare he has with everything he does. “This is my daughter Arianna and my son Daniel.” I heard my dad’s voice saying from behind me. Still Caspar was emotionless, but his ice blues eyes pierced into mine.
