Screams and tears filled the cafeteria.
"Ladies and gentlemen please, s-stay calm!" Dave stuttered holding his hands up in protest.
"Are we going to die?"
"Stay calm!?"
"What about my family?!"
Students were becoming frantic
Mr. Mathews cleared his throat.
"School will be closed until further notice!"
Everyone got up and began to run outside.
"Walk! Leave in an orderly fashion!"
He screeched over the loud cries of the school.
My friends and I started to push past officers and other frightened students.
My hand still entwined with Max's , and now also Paxton's
"Help!" We turn to see Karli sprawled on the ground getting trampled by people. Her head smashed to the ground as feet ran over her back.
I gasped and tried to fight my way back toward her.
"Don't worry, I got her!" Jordan yelled as he lifted Karli's weak, limp body and held her close.
Her arm swung loosely with every step Jordan took towards us.
"What do we do?" Jordan stated. His eyes filled with confusion. Karli began to stir.
The rest of the gang locked there eyes on me. I took a step back stunned.
What?
Did they expect me to know what to do?
"Are you guys serious?" I whispered
They all nodded in unison.
"I take the lead in school projects! School plays! Not in an apocalypse!"
Paxton crossed her arms and max took a step next to me.
"We can do this"
I laughed.
"Yeah. We can all survive a deadly flu that turns us into flesh eating zombies!"
I throw my arms up in defeat.
"Come on. We can talk about this at my house."
The school grounds had cleared within minutes of the dismissal.
We were the only ones left.
As we walked the sound of rustling leaves filled my ears once again and the sun kissed breeze caressed my tanned face.
As we walked and talked about memories and the dark flu, muffled screams and grand came from down a dim lit alley way. I squint, I vaguely see the outline of, what seems to be, a middle aged man.
His build quite like the man I saw earlier on today, the one with his head in the bin.
"Wait"
Everyone stopped.
"Stay here" I cautioned. They obliged. Standing still and watching carefully.
I began to walk down the gloomy path. The breeze suddenly becoming a sharp crisp wind, the screams and groans became louder.
Please don't be having sex
Oh god what if they are having sex?
My pure virgin eyes!
Flustered thoughts ran through my brain, the scream became louder. That was definitely a pain scream! I sprinted forward, not caring about how dark it was becoming. It fell silent.
The smell of the putrid dumpsters filled my nose, making me gag. All of a sudden a munching sound became clear, I stepped around a pool, of what I thought, of what I hoped, was water and crooked my neck around the back of the bin. There. Was a girl. Was, as in past tense. She was propped against the brick wall, raw pink skin flapping in the draft, eyes wide open and glazed over with fear. Her throat was ripped open, flowing blood poured from her broken flesh, lips chapped and blue.
The stench was horrific. The sight was horrific. My stomach filled with bile.
She looked about fifteen, too young to die and in such a horrible way.
Just then I realized, this wasn't an accident. Someone did this to her And that someone had disappeared.
The stench was forgotten, the corpse was forgotten, the dark was forgotten. For they were the least of my worries. The man or should I say thing that did this was my first priority.
Breathing started up behind me.
It was him.
My hands dug into my pockets, looking fr something to protect me from this attacker, all I found was a pen.
Lovely.
Maybe I could write him a note, telling him not to eat my throat.
I dodged his breath and backed away from him. I studied him. His eyes were red and bloodshot, the pupil dilated at least ten times more than normal, flesh was spotted with grey speck's and decomposing. The little hair that he had left was discolored and falling out, his teeth razor sharp points, his breath smelt of metal. Probably from the blood of his last victim.
He screeched, and went to jump at me.
I fell backwards, and his arms came down, hovering over me.
Scrambiling to my feet, I got up and began to run toward the street.
"What happend?!" Pax asked worried.
"Z..." I start saying, panting.
"What?" Max asked even more confused.
"A FUCKING ZOMBIE! Jesus Christ! I started with a Z! what was I going to say, Zebra!?" I practicly screamed.
"Calm your ass down" Jordan replied.
The zombie. Lets call him James. Started limping out of the Alley way.
"Run." I stated simply. It didn't take long before everyone listened. Jordan, still had Karli in his arms, luckily he was pretty strong and build like a brick shit house, although Karli was a small, petite thing which would have made carrying her also easy.
We sprinted down the street. People were being attacked already by the living dead. Screams filled the suburb and blood covered the roads. It was like a walking buffet for the Zombies.
#keenforafeed.
Finally we reached my house, I rushed getting my key's out of my pocket and quickly opened the door. Everyone bolted in. I slammed the door shut and leaned against it. My breathing fast and repetitive. I could hardly believed what I just witnessed.
after collapsing on the couch. We all just sat there. Too numb to talk.
"Carmen?" A croaky voice whispered.
"Mum...?" I turned to see my mum in the kitchen. Her eyes red and coughing.
No.
She can't have...
The dark flu.
