"I cant believe we are back here"
His voice made me jump. My breathing quickened and my heart began to thump violently against my rib cage. My eyes darted across the graphic view, scared for my life.
My lungs felt as if they were being crushed. Negative and stupid thoughts ran through my mind. My head was beginning to float, and I started feeling sick.
"Carmen? Carmen!" Paxton's hand climbed up to my shoulder. Making me jump again.
"Lets just get this over with" I spat anxiously
The only weapon we had between us three, was a baseball bat. Which we decided to trust Max with. My fists were balled up, as a scared reflex.
The avenue seemed to roll on forever, It was quiet and weirdly still.
"Do you think all the zombies are gone from here?" I asked Max.
"Highly doubtful" He answered. I itched the back of my neck and continued walking.
"Shh!" Paxton whispered. My feet ended with a scuffing noise.
"What? Why?" I whispered panicking.
"Just shh!" She said forcefully, her fingers at her lips, and her head listening out, detecting any movement.
I stepped forward and accidentally kicked a glass bottle. It commenced to roll down across the street, once it hit the curb it smashed. echoing in a piercing sound.
Without warning a pack of zombies exited an apartment building and began to swiftly move toward the shattering sound.
"Shit" I cussed. Before i gained the courage to move I counted about twenty Zombies. Mostly men.
Luckily, the zombies had not seen us yet, and since we changed into new clothes just hours before..
We squished against a brick wall before we decided to slowly creep down to the bus again.
"Go!" I urged Paxton.
"I'm trying!" She pleaded.
a shrill shriek came from around the corner. Immediately we stopped. I held my breath in anticipation. Another zombie peered from around the corner and spotted us.
"Run" Max whispered, initiating us to sprint.
I ran as fast as my legs would carry me. Every time my feet hit the ground and a vibration spilled up my legs, triggering an adrenaline rush in my veins.
After what felt like hours we finally reached the bus. Frantically I pushed open the glass doors, and continued up the stairs followed by Pax and Max.
The zombies were close on our tail.
"Shut the door!" i screamed. Max turned and pulled the doors together. The zombies started smashing their heads against the glass and clawing at the door. Blood smearing on the windows. before long the bus was surrounded.
"Fucking jump-start the bus Pax!"
She got on her hands and knees and began sticking wires together. Nothing was happening.
"Come on!" Max said frantically, pushing against the door, trying desperately to keep the door shut.
"Its not working!" she cries.
i check the dashboard.
"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck" I said angrily. Hands on my forehead, pulling at my hair roots.
"What!?" Max asked Worried. I backed away from the dashboard and pointed at the petrol meter.
Empty.
"Carmen! How could you be so stupid!" He yelled. My stomach dropped and i felt horrible.
"I'm sorry! I didn't think to check..." I said trailing off.
The banging on the glass continued to get louder and more furious.
We are stuck.
We have nothing.
We are going to die.
