Kate POV

Welcome to Skate Skates! Will everybody be skating today?

Yes, can we have 9 pairs of skates, please?

Right away, Sir.

"Honey, what size shoes are you?"

Oh, I'm size 8.

"Here you go!"

Thank You, Mr.Lee.

"You're family now Kate, no need to call me that. Please, call me Ben."

Okay Mr-Ben, thank you!

OMPH! Sorry! I say to the person. Wait, never mind. It's only you.

"What? No love for me?"

You don't need it, Adam. Your ego is too big and I don't need to fuel it. I'm kinda surprised that you actually fit in this building.

"You make me cry." He mocks.

"Come on! Let's skate. First one to loop the area first wins. On your marks get set GO!"

  For the first few seconds of me skating I succeed. Then...I fell. Me being me I got up again, but what a bad idea cause the second I stood up, I fell back down again on my tush.

Determined to win I got up again but this time a bit more slowly and ended up standing. A couple skates later I felt a WOOSH and saw Adam skating backwards in front of me.

"Come on Kate! You can do this!"

Sensing my balance come apart I reached out to grab Adam who was chuckling to himself. As he tried to pry my fingers off his arm, a little kid wobbly skated past him sending Adam and me falling to the hard and cold floor.

"Sorry!" I heard the little boy call as I fall backwards. Again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~5 hours at Skate Skates later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was in a lot of pain. It hurt to sit, walk, and move. If I ever thought roller skating was fun I did not think it anymore. How could all the boys skate this long? Besides the one hour pizza lunch break they have been skating non-stop. Me? Well as you've probably guessed, I am "siting" down at the table too sore too move.
"Kate!"
'Hey, Jimmy! Are you having fun?'
"Yeah, I was but auntie and uncle said it's time to go."
'Really?!? I couldn't help but exclaim.'
"Yeah,  we are going to go get ice cream now!"
'Okay, let me go put up my skates.'
"YAY! Ice cream time!" He shouted.
  'Jimmy, what flavor do you want?'
"Can I have Mint Chocolate Chip please?"
'Sure!'
'Can I have one Cookie Dough and one Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream please?' I ask the lady at the cashier.
"In a bowl or cone?"
'Cone.'
"Okay, it'll be $3.25."
I handed the cashier lady a five dollar bill and while she handed me back $1.75, and Jimmy went to go watch a guy named Mitch scoop out his ice cream.
"Thank You!" Jimmy said, after being handed his ice cream and walked back to the table.
"So, how was roller skating?"
'Well, besides the fact where it hurts to move and sit, it was a fun experience. How about you Josh?'
"I liked it. We only do this once a year, so the beginning part was rough."
'How come you don't skate more often? I mean it's not that far away from your house.'
"It only opens during the summer, and I'm not that big of a fan. Believe it or not I get sore too, so I don't really enjoy it. Once a year is enough for me."
'Oh, I thought you really enjoyed it?'
"I do! but not that much."
It was quiet after that, but it was a comfortable silence.
Looking outside I saw a lady staring right at me. She looked familiar but I couldn't quite place it.
"Come on Kate! We're going home now so we can watch the sun set."
Huh? Oh, okay. I'm coming. When I got outside the lady wasn't there, but something in my brain was telling me that, that was not going to be the last time I saw her.
