Adam's POV

Adam, get yourself together man! She's just a girl.

Yeah, but she's not just any girl, I mutter to myself while starring at the road. See, I'm kind of a reckless driver... sometimes, but my mom taught me well. "If you're not watching the road while driving, you shouldn't be driving," is what she used to tell me. She forgot to tell me what to do when there is a beauty next to me though.

Last night was one of the best nights I've had in a long time. And I mean a lonngg time. I don't normally play the guitar, in fact, I stopped playing because I lost the motivation to practice. But man, last night? I'm ready to learn all the music in the world if it'll bring her back to my room every night.

"Adam?" She asked while staring out the window.

"Yes, Kate?"

"Why did you say you'll take me to Green Gems today? I mean, I know you have other things on your plate and driving around town was definitely not on your planner for today I'm sure."

She stayed looking out the window, but I could see the reflection of her face clearly on the side mirror. Look my mom said to keep my eyes on the road - me looking at the side mirror is like me looking at the road.

"Well," I said slowly. "I think it's time we started spending some time together you know? We've been living under the same roof, might as well start doing some of the same activities. And it's not like you can drive yourself or anything. Plus, I think it is much more fun to hang around me than to hang around Robert."

"True," She said with an airy tone before closing her eyes and going to sleep.

The ride was not that long. To be honest, I could have gotten to the store quicker, but she needed her rest and who was I to shorten our day together? Even if it was to help her find clues.

--

"Hello, welcome to Green Gems! My name is Tyler, how may I help you?"

Ah, so this was the Tyler she was talking about. Competition? No.

"Kate?! Are you the same girl who would eat all my cookies and gummy worms in kindergarten?" Tyler spoke - more so exclaimed.

"Yup! The one and only." Kate said smiling at him. To be quite honest, I tuned out the rest of their conversation. For me, it was pretty boring. Saw Tyler's dad and left was the gist.

Heading back to the car Kate looked like she was in her own space and as much as I did not want to disturb her bubble...I wanted to.

"So, did you get what you were looking for?" I asked her with uncertainty.

"Kind of, I got a clue, and to be honest that was all I was expecting."

"That's nice." I didn't really know what else to say. Normally, I am around girls who talk and want me for my body. This is a completely new experience okay. And being a guy... I ask what's on my mind. "Have you ever liked Tyler?" I ask while opening the passenger door for her.

"Not really. He was the older brother I never had," she said in addition to something about brotherly love or whatever but I heard what I needed to hear! I quickly shut her door and hurried to the driver's side. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. No competition, I'm going to give her food... I can definitely woo her.

"Let's go eat" I stated with no particular location in mind. Now the trick to finding out where to eat is to pretend that you have it all planned out.

"Kate," I asked while turning on the radio.

"Yeah?" She said while humming to the song.

"I'm hungry, I'm sure you're hungry too. So let's go eat!" I pulled out of the parking spot and made a turn at the light. "Where do you think we're going to eat?" I asked at the red light.
