Excitement is that split second when fear becomes too much and all you can do is yell!

Kate POV

"WAKE UP! It's Christmas!" I spring awake with my left ear feeling deaf. Ladies and gentleman-my Christmas gift- a personal alarm clock.

I sleepily run down the stairs trailing behind Mark. That kid might look tiny but boy does he have a lot of energy.

"Mommy! Daddy! Kate's here now. Can we pwease open up presents now." He says with a puppy face.

"Oh, alright!" Amber responds with a smile on her face. "Let me just go and get the camera okay?"

After she gets back I am fully awake and ready to watch everyone open their presents. What? I don't expect anything. The fact they let me live with them and get a puppy-my baby!- is enough. I, however did get everyone a present because I had some money and this season is all about giving.

I really liked how they gave out their presents. There was a name tag for everybody and they would walk around and pass it to its rightful owner. After passing them all out I went back to where I was sitting and got surprised by the amount of presents I saw at my seat. I almost started to tear up by the affection. 'You guys really didn't have to get me anything!' I said with misty eyes.
They all smiled in return and Amber set up the video camera. Apparently, she records this every year and every year they watch all the previous years. It was a tradition that started when Amber accidently clicked the record button on the camera and recorded Jordan opening all of his gifts.

"Daddy! Look what Santa brought me! It's exactly what I wanted." Mark exclaimed with an excited look.

I looked around the room and watched as each and every one of them had a different expression when opening their gift. I looked down at my mini pile and chose the gift wrapped by Josh. I mean, he is my boyfriend after all. I tore open the wrapping paper and stared at my gift in shock. It was a snow globe. Not just any snow globe but one with a puppy and teal background. I looked up at him to make eye contact and he was smiling back at me. 'I love it,' I mouth with a smile glued on my face. He smiled back with a faint redness appearing on his cheeks.

I put the snow globe next to me and move to open Adam's gift. His was boyishly wrapped with some parts sticking out put I could tell he tried his hardest. I carefully opened the box and inside was perfume and bracelets. I looked up and tried to find him among the wrapping paper. When he finally noticed me he walked over.

"Do you like it?" He asks with his hand scratching the back of his head.

I wrinkled my nose. 'Do you think I smell or something?' I said while motioning to the perfume. His eyes widened in shock.

"No! You smell great actually...well that came out wrong. It's not like you need it or anything." He said while stuttering over his next words.

I laugh at him. 'I'm just kidding! I love it. How did you know I wanted some perfume?

"Well, I kinda asked Veronica what you liked. She said books, perfume, and bracelets. I didn't know what kind of books to get you so I skipped over that and got perfume and bracelets. I hope you like it." He said while shyly looking at me.

I let out a giggle. 'I love it Adam. I was just kidding, but you do have good taste.' I said after smelling the variety of perfume. And I love these bracelets! They are so cute and definitely look like something I'd wear.' I get up and give him a hug as a thank you.
