Alex's POV

_____

I had decided to not go to class the next morning. When I took a shower, I saw the purple blooms scattered across my neck and smiled. I was going to figure out who J really was. I had texted Matt and asked him if Jack was going to class or not. He'd told me that Jack hadn't met him for their morning coffee like they always did before class. I took that as he was in his room.

I knocked on the door, hoping that I wasn't waking anyone up, well, anyone that wasn't Jack.

"Who is it?" A voice from behind the door asked. I quirked up an eyebrow, there was one of those holes that allowed the resident to see who was at the door.

"It's Alex, Alex Gaskarth." I said awkwardly.  I hoped that Jack opened the door. The door opened slowly, revealing a tired and disheveled looking Jack. He gave me a shy smile.

"Hey, what's up? Why aren't you in class?" He asked me. I scoffed at him.

"Why aren't *you* in class?" I shot back playfully. He laughed nervously.

"Not to be rude, but why are you here." He asked me, I noticed his foot tapping on the floor anxiously.

"I have to ask you something." I told him. His eyes widened.

"You do?" He asked me. I nodded with a smile. "Oh, Alex, I'm glad that you understood!" He threw his arms around me and pulled me close. I tried to get out of his tight grasp.

"What the hell are you talking about?  Understand what?" I asked him. He let me go, his face flushed.

"Well, I'm embarrassed. You wanna cone in?" He widened the door and let me pass.

"Understand what, Jack?" I pressed. He laughed a little.

"I'd like to be your math tutor, since you uh, might need one. And I help you anyway." Jack mumbled out. I shrugged.

"Fine. You're my tutor. Now, I need to ask you an important question. Have you had coffee?"

"Is that the question?"

"No, I need you to be wide awake. Are you awake?"

"Yeah. Goddamn, Alex. Ask your question already."

"Okay, please, don't judge me." I waited until he nodded before I continued on. "I met this guy at Vinny's party, and I really really like him, Jack. I have no idea what he looks like though. He gave me a riddle to solve that should lead me straight to him." Jack's face was unreadable. He seemed shocked, scared and really fucking nervous.

"Okay. And you want me to help you solve it." He said to me. I nodded eagerly. "Uh, I dunno if I can help you, Alex. I'd like to but, I dunno."

"What? Why not? You're like the smartest person I know." I admitted to him. He blushed.

"Thanks, but I dunno."

"C'mon. I'll owe you one. Because this really means a lot to me." I pleaded. He was silent for a while. He sighed.

"You know I can't say no to you. Tell me about him." He said, and he listened as I told him every shred of information I knew about J. And not once did he interrupt me. He listened intently.

"And, so, uh...if I may ask, why do you like him so much if he refuses to show himself to you?"

"I dunno. It's hard to pick just one thing. I mean, I like his laugh, and how smart he is, and his kisses, and how cocky he can be sometimes, but most of all, he's real. No bullshit."
