Jack's POV
_____
Chelsea and Taylor had let me spend the night at their apartment, after I'd admitted to them that I didn't want to go home. They were both kind about it and had no problem letting me stay. The next morning, we'd been sitting around eating cereal and watching the morning celebrity gossip channel.
"I can't believe that Taylor Swift got a new boyfriend. I mean, I'm far prettier than her." Chelsea whined. I shrugged.
"I thought she was dating that one wolf guy." I said to them. Chelsea just gave me a confused and sympathetic look.
"Aw, Jack. That was like two years ago." She told me. I shrugged.
"So she hasn't dated anyone for two years. How bad was the breakup?" I asked. Chels face-palmed. "What?"
"Just, staph." She told me. I stuck out my bottom lip in a slight pout.
"Why?" I asked her. She smiled at me and shook her head again.
"I didn't think you could get cuter, but you did." She told me, the smile still on her lips. I laughed a little. I didn't really think I was cute to begin with, but I would take her compliment out of kindness.
"Thank you." I told her, blowing her a playful kiss.
"Whoever this guy you're hung up on is, is fucking lucky." Chels stood and grabbed her bowl. "I'm leaving, because I'm becoming sexually frustrated."
"Dammit, Jack." Taylor piped up, swatting at my arm jokingly. I laughed. In the few hours I'd been around them, they'd become like close friends to me.
"Tay, don't we have to head to the store soon?" Chels asked from the small kitchen's doorway. Tay took out her phone and checked the time.
"Yeah. Do you want to come to the store with us, or do you have stuff to do?" Tay asked me. I shook my head.
"I think I'll go home. I kind of have to face stuff sooner or later." I told them.
"I wish you the best of luck. I mean, I bet he really cares about you." Tay leaned across the table and gave me a quick peck on the cheek.
"The lucky bastard better love you." Chels mumbled, her voice fading as she retreated to her room. I smiled a little at the thought of that. Alex Gaskarth, loving me? Impossible. I mean, I was, at best, a little over average, if you factor in my looks and personality. I was funny, kind if I wanted to be, I could care about others, again, if I wanted to, and I didn't kick puppies. So I wasn't a completely, awful person. But I wasn't that great of a person either. But Alex.
Alex was cute, smart, talented and just amazing. He could turn something boring into something interesting. No matter how bored we'd get when doing homework, he'd always managed to make a small game out of it, so it wasn't as lame. Then that giggle of his. Fuck, it could make even the most hateful person grin like the Cheshire Cat. And his eyes, They were alive with life and inner vibrancy. I liked his smile, and his sense of humour, and his taste in music. I just liked him. He was worthy enough to be loved by everyone, no, he deserved to be loved by everyone.
But I, was not.
I was standing out in the hallway with Tay and Chels as Tay locked their apartment door before we all could go. They were going to work, and I was going back to my dorm. I was a bit on edge about going back, mostly because, I knew I'd have to go back to class, and that meant seeing Alex and knowing I couldn't have him.
It was worse than a crush that I had for the guy. The fact that our 'relationship' had been pretty deep, made it harder to move on. I wanted him and just him.
