Chapter Eleven

-

Wednesday

"Luke, what's wrong?" his father asked with worry when his youngest son entered their house sobbing violently with tear-stained cheeks. Liz turned around from the sink and dropped the glass she was washing and rushed over to the young boy.

"Lukey," she gasped a little heartbroken that her son was crying so much. He did not even cry this much when he lost Jack.

The boy did not stop sobbing as he entered his mother's embrace for comfort and clarification that everything will still be alright. She pulled the cold boy in tightly and whispered sweet things into his hair. "What's happened, sweetheart?"

Luke could not talk though, his voice was blocked by the sadness and anger of emotions that made him cry. He took deep breaths trying to calm down but could only mutter one word. "M-Michael."

Liz bit her lip worriedly whilst his father stood up defensively. "What about Michael sweetheart, is he alright?" she asked worried that maybe something had happened to him.

"We," Luke began "We b-broke up," he sobbed, even more, burying his face even deeper into his mother's shoulder.

"He broke up with you?" Andy asked a hint of aggression in his tone. After losing Jack, Mr Hemmings knew that Luke struggled with emotions and he believed Michael would make his son happier. He did not expect him to break his heart.

"N-no," he shook his head, moving to look at both his parents, calming down a little.

"You broke up with him?" his father asked confused. He could not understand why he broke up with Michael and then was so upset about it.

"Yes," he admitted wiping his nose with the sleeve of his jumper.

"I thought you loved him?" his mother asked just as confused as her husband, she took her son's hand and brought him over to a chair and made him sit and explain.

"I do but he lied t-to me," he sniffled, his mind flickering back to the image of his ex-boyfriend and dead brother kissing. He trailed his index finger over his left collarbone remembering the italic of the writing of Jack which was tattooed above it.

"How so?" his father asked once again getting defensive. He'd find any reason to yell at the black-haired boy currently for making his son upset.

"Did you know Jack had a boyfriend?" Luke asked and both looked at him strangely unsure why he was changing the subject. He really hoped they didn't because he did not want anyone lying to him.

"No," his mother and father said in unison.

"Who was it?" his mother asked wearily having her suspicions.

"Michael," he confirmed causing both of their eyes to widen in shock. "Michael fucking Clifford," Luke swore letting out his anger. Usually, his parents would scold him for the use of obscene however they'd let it slide due to the fact he was hurting right now.

"What?" his father shook his head in shock. "He lied to us too," he seethed. "Why the hell would he not tell us? Why would Jack not tell us?" he rambled utterly confused by everything.

"How long?" Liz asked extremely shocked that Jack would not tell them he had a boyfriend. More so Michael did not open up about it at court.

"A while I reckon," Luke shrugged not certain. "I mean they seemed close by the picture I saw and he has a tattoo of his name going across his left collarbone."

The women gulped saddened that her son could have meant so much to someone and they not know.

His father spoke up again. "I want to speak with Michael! Now!"
