Chapter Sixteen

-

Saturday

"Michael?" Luke asked confused when he opened the door to reveal the black-haired boy.

"Luke," he whispered, his eyes roaming up and down the blonde. He seemed more attractive than he remembered. More irresistible.

"What do you want?" Luke asked trying to sound annoyed. When really he was over the moon to see his ex. He did break up with him, but it was not because he did not love him. Luke missed Michael a lot.

"I want to take you someplace," the black-haired boy asked hopefully. He was sure Luke would disagree.

"No Michael, I told you—" he began. He refused to be with the older boy because he felt no matter what they were doing was betraying his brother.

"Listen. This is to do with your brother. I have something to show you," he pleaded. Michael missed Luke too.

"Great!" he laughed bitterly. "Another secret kept from me." Michael then noticed the bags under his eyes and despite the smile, it was always a frown.

"No Luke, this is something different. Something new," he persisted. Reaching forward to take his hands.

Surprisingly, Luke kept his hands locked in his ex-boyfriends. He looked down and them and sighed.

"This is not a date," he stated firmly.

"This is not a date," Michael agreed seriously.

"I look a mess, I better go change," Luke suggested. His normally styled hair was sticking out in every direction.

"No time," Michael disagreed shaking his head and yanking the boy out of the door. He turned back around. "You look cute when you're a mess," he remarked with a smirk.

Luke blushed. He missed this.

"I didn't know you were religious?" Luke questioned utterly confused as Michael pulled into the church car park.

"I'm not," Michael said, reversing into a parking space.

"Then why are we at a church?" the blonde asked with a frown.

"You'll see," Michael said leaving what was happening pretty vague, just like his best friend had done.

"Michael, you're scaring me," Luke muttered. Shyly following behind the older boy into the church.

"It's good to see you again sir," the same spiritualist smiled as the familiar black-haired boy walk in.

"You too," he smiled politely back. Leading Luke over to two spare chairs at the back.

"What is this?" the blonde loudly whispered, quite scared by the unknown situation.

"You'll see," Michael repeated again. He reached over and placed a supportive hand on the blonde's knee. Luke didn't respond.

The same woman as last week welcomed everyone and started to walk about. "I have a Jack here," she said out loud.

"Jack?" Luke whispered confused.

"Put your hand up," Michael whispered back eagerly. Luke did as he was told. Slowly he raised his hand.

"Is it Luke?" she asked, her eyes forming a squint

"Yes?" he agreed confused by how she knew his name. Just like Michael was before.

"He wants you to know he wants you to be happy," she tells the blonde, looking him in the eyes.

"I am," he lied.

"He tells me to tell you to do whatever it takes for you to be happy. He doesn't mind."

Luke looked down at his feet deep in thought. "Thank you," he finally whispered, just audible for the women to hear.

"Brian?" she called out, letting the blondes brother move along now that his message was out there.

Luke kept thinking about what the women had told him, whether she was being truthful or Michael had tipped her to say something. But, he could not have because other people had spirits coming through. And they believed it all and were truly blessed by it.

"Michael?" he whispered over to the boy who was intently listening in on the other conversations.

"Yeah," he hummed quietly, looking over at the younger boy.

Luke reached over and took the boy's hand. "I think Jack is okay with us."

"What are you saying?" Michael smiled knowing exactly what the blonde meant.

"Can we try again?"

"I'll always give you a million chances Luke."

"Is that a yes?" he asked confused.

"Of course it's a yes, silly!"
