Being a part of the Hoshidan royal guard had its perks. You got fantastic food, which, the royals and their retainers got WAY better food, but you expected it. I mean, they're royalty, after all.
But you also got to hang out with them in your free time. It was amazing how they were so nice. Well, before Queen Mikoto passed. Then everything went downhill.
Now, it seems like Nohr and Hoshido are fighting every 2 minutes.
It's really hard...fighting against Nohr. Because after both your parents died, your family was a Nohr family. And you've been really close to them. Especially Prince Xander. As a child, you used to play with him all the time. Now, when you look at him in battle, he has the same disgusted look in his eyes every time.
Suddenly, Prince Takumi readied an arrow. And he was going to shoot it at Prince Xander! Though you were a Hoshidan soldier, you had to protect him!
Running ahead, you saw the arrow heading at full speed. You jumped, then felt a sharp pain in your chest.
"(Y/n)!" Xander screamed.
"Why in god's name did you do that?!"
"Heh..." You coughed. "I had to p-protect you..."
"No you didn't! You were a Hoshidan soldier! Not a Nohrian soldier, despite how much your family and I wanted. But that doesn't mean you have to protect me!" He looked at you with panicked eyes.
You felt the world getting darker.
"B-But...this is...a...thank you..." You coughed again, this time with more blood than before.
"T-Thank you for what?!" You could see the tears in his eyes.
"T-Thank you...for playing with me as a child..." Then everything went black.
But, the last thing you remember was Xander rubbing his eyes, and whispering,
"N-No...my little soldier..."
