Maddy's PoV
Today had been the day that we were all waiting for- Christmas. Mrs Weasley had doused the house full of Christmas decorations and ornaments. To add to the festivities, it had even begun to snow outside.
"Merry Christmas, all," Dumbledore said as he walked into the kitchen in which we were all sitting at. "I thought that I would drop in and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. How's the recovery going, Arthur?"
"It's all going swell, Albus. I'm just glad we've got the family here," Mr Weasley replied in reference to his attack at the Ministry.
"Well, that's good to hear," he replied. "I better be off soon."
"Oh nonsense. At least stay for some tea and Christmas cake, Albus," Molly said, fetching a mug and a slice of cake.
"As much as I do appreciate your hospitality, Molly, I really must be off."As Dumbledore began to walk away, I decided to approach him.
"Professor, do you happen to have a minute to spare?" I questioned. "There's something that I would like to ask you but if you're busy, it can wait."
"Miss Potter, of course I'll answer your question. From your tone, I'm sensing that it is something personal," Dumbledore answered, causing me to nod. "We'll chat in here."
He opened a door which lead into a spare room; all of it's furniture covered in sheets. It seemed as though the place hadn't be touched in years.
"What happened the night that my parents died?" I asked. "I mean, I know what happened, but did he know I existed? Do you know what happened?"
"Well..."~October 31st, 1981- No one's PoV~
Young Maddison was sat in a cupboard underneath her home's stairs, much like her brother soon would be in a matter of time. She had been downstairs with her father, James at the time. She was a young girl of two and she simply couldn't sleep that night, so like the good father James was, he had given her a small glass of milk when suddenly the door burst down. Thankfully, Maddison was out of sight of the door but somewhere in her two year old mind, she had somewhat of an idea of what was going on. She was fairly intelligent for her age. She managed to open the cupboard under her stairs and sat there; the place she remained to be during the brutal death of her parents.
She had heard her parents earlier speaking of what would happen to Harry and herself if this situation ever occurred but neither of them had thought very much of it. Apparently the antagonist, You-Know-Who knew about Maddison and thought that she would be a great member of the Death Eaters in the future due to her well known intuitive nature and of course, her name.
After the dreaded "Avada Kedavra" was spoken and You-Know-Who became weak. A small one year old, Maddison's brother, Harry had lived through the curse then and there becoming the first to ever had done so. Maddison had remained still and quiet under the stairs. She was filled with fear and curiosity. She wondered what was going on upstairs and what that "Avada Kedavra" word meant. The one thing she did know was that it did not sound good. Her thoughts were with her mother and her father, but mostly her brother. Maddison was in love with her younger brother and wanted to do whatever it took to fulfill her big-sister duty to protect him, even at that age. She was worried about what would happen to him and how he would cope without her current protection.
Suddenly, Maddison heard voices outside the cupboard door- one male and one female. The door opened and the young girl cowered in fear. A larger man and a pretty, thin woman appeared at the door, each clad in black clothing.
"You must be Maddison, right?" the woman asked.
Maddison responded with a shy nod.
"Well young Maddison, we'll be your Mummy and Daddy from now on," she said with an evil grin. "Your new brother, Daniel is waiting at home for us."
"Where are my Mummy and Daddy? I already have a brother," the two-year-old asked in tears.
"Let's go," the man said, pulling the girl's arm and dragging her out of the house, away from Godric's Hollow.
Before Maddison could even look back to see her home, the man and women had apparated her far away.
