Yoongi couldn't focus on anything but the sound of his voice. At this point he didn't care if he ended up missing his stop or not (although he'd probably regret it later). As long as he got to keep listening to this guy sing, he would be able to manage.
He decided that when he went around for tips, he'd try to introduce himself. The entire time he watched him sing, he was preparing himself, rehearsing the words he would say.
He didn't want to say something that was too basic. He needed to make an original and memorable first impression on him. What were the chances he'd see him a third time after this?
However the only thing he could come up with was, "Hi, I'm Min Yoongi, and you are?"
He hated himself for not being the usual creative person that he was at this point in time.
And just like that, the song the boy was singing came to an end, and he went around with his hat for tips.
As Yoongi was reaching into his wallet for money to tip him, the train announced the stop he was supposed to get off at and halted, the doors opening. His eyes widened as he spotted the raven haired boy across the train cart, all thoughts of missing his stop for this boy fleeing out of his head as he jumped up and rushed out the train. It had arrived at his stop much sooner than he thought it would.
He took a deep breath and frowned once he realized what he just did. His fear of being lost took over and therefore, he wasn't able to talk to the boy, much to his own disappointment. Sighing, he shoved his wallet back into his pocket and walked across the platform to catch the F train.
He heard echoing noises down the tracks which notified him that the train was coming, and he watched as it flew past him, a gust of wind brushing against his body since he was standing so close.
The cart he got on was a bit packed. There weren't any open seats so he chose a spot– leaning against the wall between one of the doors and a seat. He held onto the bar above his head and popped his earbuds back in, letting his playlist start where he paused it. His eyes shut as he concentrated on the music, forgetting the world around him.
His few moments of bliss only lasted a couple seconds.
"What are you listening to?"
His eyes shot wide open.
No, he hadn't noticed the boy come off the train from the other side. No, he didn't see him follow him across the platform and transfer to the F train. And no, Yoongi definitely did not see him enter the train alongside him and claim a spot standing right in front of him, even holding onto the same bar as the train began to move.
"Huh?" Yoongi surely heard him the first time since his music wasn't blaring, but he was so shocked to see him so suddenly when he thought he had abandoned him just a few moments ago.
The boy reached over and pulled one of Yoongi's earbuds out, offering a cheeky grin.
"I asked what you were listening to." His voice was so smooth and unbelievably addicting, even if it was just his normal talking voice. Yoongi wasn't able to process what he was saying, he was just so lost in the sound.
"Oh, my bad. I should introduce myself first before asking questions, right? Sorry about that. I'm Park Jimin, a music and adventure enthusiast. It's nice to meet you." He smiled sweetly.
Yoongi cleared his throat and looked down at his phone to pause his music before glancing back up at Jimin. He finally had a name for the face.
"I'm Min Yoongi. It's nice to meet you too." Yoongi smiled back at him. He couldn't think of a witty way to establish who he was, so he was stuck with the only choice of being unoriginal.
"So do I have permission to ask questions now, Yoongi?" He laughed.
The sound was so intoxicating. The way he said his name left him in a daze. He felt as if the train was getting smaller and smaller and he couldn't catch his breath. He could only nod in response.
"You don't talk much, do you?" Jimin questioned playfully. Yoongi was only able to laugh. "That's okay. The people who talk less usually have the best stories to tell."
Yoongi could feel himself getting warmer.
"But anyways, my actual question was what are you listening to?"
"You wouldn't know it." Yoongi answered in the same playful manner and shook his head.
"Oh really? Try me." He dared.
"It's an English song."
"So?"
Yoongi stared at him with disbelief plastered across his face. "Well, then, have a listen for yourself." He held out the earbud Jimin had pulled out earlier and pressed play on his phone.
The second chorus of Sucker For Pain began playing through the small speakers and Yoongi waited for a response.
"You're right. I don't know it." Jimin laughed again, the sound ringing in the older's ears. Yoongi shrugged. "Ah, I guess I don't know enough English music then, huh."
"Don't be too bummed out about it." Yoongi joked.
"I really thought I was going to be able to surprise you. But, I guess that can always happen another time." Jimin kept on smiling, sending the silver haired boy's brain into a frenzy.
"Another time."
Before Yoongi could reply, Jimin changed the subject.
"Anyways, I've never seen you around before."
"There are a lot of people in the area, I'm not surprised." Yoongi rolled his eyes.
"No, but I still know the regulars who ride around here. I guess you could say I'm a local on these trains...?"
"Interesting." He bit down on his lip to keep from smiling.
"Are you new here or are you just visiting?"
"Why so curious?"
"Hm, I don't know. You just kind of intrigue me." He smirked, confidence rolling in waves off of him hitting Yoongi at full force.
He didn't know what to say or what to think. He just knew that he loved Jimin's voice and he'd kill to keep hearing it. The fact that he was having an actual conversation with him was enough to keep him going for the rest of the week.
The fact that Jimin said he was intrigued by him flew in one ear and out the other, for Yoongi was distracted by the beautiful eye-smile Jimin owned.
"I wouldn't necessarily say I'm new to the area, but I'm new to the city and public transportation.
"That explains it. What brings you to the subway today?"
"Oh, I'm just visiting the city."
"Me too."
