The Meeting

"Jake's here!" Charlie yelled from the kitchen.

"Thanks dad!" I answered as I almost head dived down the stairs.

I threw open the door with a gigantic smile on my face and it faltered for a second before it picked up again. Jacob was sitting on a motorcycle that looked about as old as Billy was. I couldn't care less, it was awesome! I hadn't heard Charlie follow me out, I'm sure at first it was to say hi to Jacob but now, as I turned to look at his face, I could see a lecture coming along. For me and Jacob. He muttered something unintelligible under his breath and started to walk along behind me. I gave Jacob a forgiving glance before my dad started.

"Now you know how I feel when it comes to motorcycles, Jake." Charlie said rather roughly. "I don't want you or Bella riding them. Its not safe."

Although, Jacob and I knew how safe it was... Seeing how I was sitting behind a werewolf who could catch me before even one hair of mine touched the floor.

"Relax, Charlie. Im a good driver and you know I wouldn't let anything happen to Bella." He answered appeasingly.

His voice, however, was ringing with promise. Even Charlie could hear the promise in it and grudgingly allowed me to leave with Jacob. My dad was putty in Jacob's hands. Not even two minutes later, Jacob and I were driving  slowly away from the house, knowing Charlie was watching from the window. Once we rounded the block, he punched it. The adrenaline rush felt amazing.

"THIS IS AWESOME!!!!" I yelled in his ear knowing he wouldn't hear it otherwise because of the wind.

Jacob looked back with a gigantic smile and then looked forward, pushing the bike faster and faster. We made it to La Push in record time. Thirty minutes before everyone else, knowing everyone would be punctual for this bonfire. We parked off to the side and I asked him where he scored the bikes.

"Sue Clearwater gave them to me today. They used to be her bosses but he was selling them and she bought them off of him cheap and gave them to me, knowing I would love them." He replied casually but I could still feel the excitement radiating off of him.

We sat on the logs for exactly thirty minutes and everyone began to arrive. Sam Uley arrived with Emily, his imprint, first. Then Billy arrived with Sue Clearwater, with Leah and Seth, her kids, in tow. Paul Lahote arrived next, with Rachel Black, his imprint and Jacob's sister, in hand. Apparently she had just arrived today to visit Paul and her family. Jacob got up, surprised, because no one knew she was coming and gave his sister a hug. Billy following suit. Jared Cameron arrives with Kim, his imprint. Jacob came to sit by me again, wrapping an enormous arm around me. Quil came next, with Claire, his imprint, sleeping in his arms. At first, when I heard Quil had imprinted on a two year old, I was appalled but then it became clear that Quil didn't think of her that way. For Claire, Quil was to be a brother, friend, protector, and maybe in the future, lover. It was all her choice, though. Embry arrived next immediately going to sit next to Quil, after saying hello to Jacob and I.Collin Littlesea and Brady Fuller arrived next, completing the pack. Once everyone settled down and got quiet, a hard trait for most of the pack, the meeting began.

The meeting began as normal. Emily with a pen and notebook, scribbling everything said as fast as she could. It began with the stories of the Quileute tribes, how they came to be and how the continue to survive today. Normal things, said at every meeting. No one minded, the pack loved hearing the stories of how they came to be and it always felt good to be out with the family. However "official" this meeting was, for the most of us, it was a family night. Where we were all surrounded by the people we loved. After all the formalities were said, Sam got up quietly and stood in front of Emily. Emily barely noticed because she was still scribbling frantically, recalling everything that was said in the last five minutes. I noticed all the boys, nodding their heads towards Sam and chuckling and smirking at one another. Leah was the only one with a very defined frown on her face. Something was gonna happen and I'm sure they were all betting on it. Sam quickly bent down and removed the pen from Emily's still moving fingers. She looked up, surprised, and frowned.

"Sam... I have to finish writing." She said pointedly but still affectionately.

"You will, after I'm done." He replied in a loving manner.

Emily went putty in his eyes. Whenever I was around them, I always felt like I was intruding. The way they looked at each other was so intimate. Im sure thats how Jacob and I looked most of the time but it was different when it was happening as to when you are watching it. Emily sighed and motioned for him to go on with a caring smile on her face. Thats when Sam got down on one knee. Emily's face went from caring to I'm-going-to-start-crying-in-one-minute in the span of 2 seconds.

"Emily, my love," Sam's voice rang with passion and dripped with emotion "I love you and I will love you forever. I want to wake up and fall asleep next to you everyday. Will you please do me the honor of being my wife?"

Emily was speechless. She got up from the log and kneeled in front of him. Her body looking incredibly small next to her soul mates.

"I thought you would never ask." She replied with a tear falling from her eye.

Sam swept her up and spun her around. Both of them laughing and then Sam kissed her with a new sense of pride in him. He was to be married to none other than the person who makes his existence necessary. Everyone was standing up, cheering loudly for the soon to be newly-weds. It was as perfect as you can get. Everyone circled in around them, hugging and congratulating them. Thats when I noticed Leah. She was sitting out on the side of the logs with a look of pure torture on her face. Thats when I remembered. Leah and Sam had been going out for years before Emily came into the picture. Everyone was sure that they were going to get married but then, when Emily came to visit her cousins, Leah and Seth, Sam saw Emily and it was love at first sight. Leaving Leah distraught and heart broken. I can't even imagine how she must be feeling right now. Jacob, following my line of sight, sighed and whispered into my ear that it hurts but she will have to get over it. Theres nothing else to be done.

Once the congratulations ended, we all decided to head home. Leah broke and began sobbing, in front of everyone and ran. Straight ran into the forest without looking back. As Jacob and I were mounting the bike we heard a piercing howl in the night sky. It sounded like someones heart being ripped from their chest and we immediately knew that that was happening. And that it was Leah's heart being shredded tonight.  Everyone remained quiet for 30 seconds. Sam and Emily wincing, knowing how much pain this news brought to Leah, but as Jacob said: there was nothing to be done. It wasn't her. It wasn't her fault but still, as everyone continued to say their goodbyes, I couldn't imagine the pain Leah must be going through. That night, I slept at Jacob's but I could still hear her pained howls piercing the air every couple of minutes.

A/N

Bella's different (Charlie mot so much! Lol!) but Bella has changed. With Edward would you ever think her excited to see a motorcycle? Nope! Shes so much better with Jake!

I took the idea of the bonfire from the great Stephanie Meyer but I changed it. Now instead of the entire tribe legends being the main focus, its SAM AND EMILY'S ENGAGEMENT!!!!

YOURE WELCOME.

But on a side note, keep in mind the legends were still said. Bella still heard the story of the third wife. (For future chapters)

Anyways SAM AND EMILY ARE GETTING MARRIED FINALLY AND ITS GONNA BE GREAT AND PERFECT AND HOLY HOT ALIEN BABIES ASDFGHJKL.

Sorry about the Leah bit  though. It had to be done. We all know she loves him and this is how she grieves. It still hurt to write it because I've been in a similar situation so it hit some nerves. But eventually you move on. As I will make sure happens to Leah. Not only for us but her as well.

Thank you again for even reading this far.

Xoxo
