I apologize for this in advance.

"So Bella, I'll make this simple. Your death or the death of one of your precious dogs?" Victoria spat.
I gasped as the wolves snarled. I could sense their anticipation to attack her.
"Tell your pet dog Jacob, to stop thinking about jumping on me at your stupid hand signal." She laughed.
"What?" I screeched.
"Oh I forgot you don't know about my mind reading abilities. Since you are all so annoyingly interested at my 'talents'-" she laughed "-I guess I'll tell you since you'll all be dead." She said casually as if she was talking about the weather.
The wolves quieted down, now intrigued. I have been speechless since she blindsided me with her mind reading ability. This is all fun and games for her, its as if it was another day in the never endless life of a vampire. I suddenly felt relaxed as if someone was relaxing me. It felt the same as when Jasper did it.
"Ill take the suspended silence from both the dogs and you to explain my ability." She paused for dramatic effect.
"I am 446 years old. I was born in London in the 1550's. My mom a scullery maid and my dad was the master of the house. I worked as a servant from a very early age. I had bright red hair and green eyes, a pretty face with nice features. I began to work for a master of a house who mistreated me. I learned how to fend for myself and get out of sticky situations. I learned how to disappear. I left once I taught myself how to live on the streets." She paused as if remembering a past to far behind.
"I fell in love with a man who worked at a bank, and he with me. I began to meet people and soon realized that a lot of people had it out for me, trying to get to the wealthy man on my arm. I learned how to read faces which pretty much means how to read minds. Faces show a lot, like Bella's right now. You're terrified but still intrigued. Wanting to hear more." She looked at me again, the wolves growled lowly, to interested in her story.
She was right of course, I was terrified, but I wanted to hear this. I've needed to hear this. She opened her mouth and continued.
"I married him and he turned out to be an abusive drunk. He beat me and yelled at me. He always blamed me for things that weren't my fault. Thats when I learned how to take care of myself. I tried to leave him, but he got angry. Beat me until I was black and blue. I ran from the house, practically bleeding from every crevice. Of course here is where I turn into who I am today. A vampire named Anne found me bleeding on the street, picked me up and took me to her 'house', you can say. It was different times so she did actually own a house and she hunted humans. She took me in, bit me and I was born again, this time an immortal." She smiled as she remembered.
"What happened with Anne isn't important, but during my life as a human. I quickly learned what I needed to survive. Peoples faces fed me the information I needed to survive. I learned to adapt and take from the people around me. So, to get to the point, I take from other people to survive. My talent is adaptation. I get out of dangerous situations by understanding my surroundings. But I'll make it simpler for you. I take from the people I have around." She smiled as she saw my face starting to understand.
"I met you and you block people out of your mind, so I took that from you. I blocked Edward, to explain that lapse of time in your memories. Edward could read minds, so I can read minds. Alice could see the future, so I saw your plan once you decided it. Jasper could influence the emotions, so I calmed you down a while ago. I know you felt it. Etc." She hasn't finished though, and I knew what she was missing.
"James could track so you found me." I whispered.
She hissed when I said his name, I immediately knew we were back on the killing track. The wolves growled in response. I couldn't believe it, no wonder she was so lethal! She literally took away what made you you. I stared at her in shock and she smiled.
"So Bella, I'll repeat. You or one of your dogs?" She said smiling, already knowing she would win.
I straightened my back as she crouched into a lunging position. The wolves growled and moved in front of me. They were in a V formation, all approaching her smoothly. She laughed and I immediately knew this wasn't going to work. She could read what they were going to do before they did it. I knew they were thinking the same thing as they glanced at each other.
Before I could blink, a big wolf lunged at her. She smiled in excitement and I took this moment to pull out the hand knife I took from Sam's room just in case this happened. As the wolf lunged, Victoria smiled in victory. Normally my eyes couldn't catch this, but right now everything was going in slow motion. She was distracted so now was the time to make the move no one but me thought about. She couldn't read my thoughts if she read minds like Edward. I hoped this was the case with all my might.
As the wolf reached Victoria, she shot up and wrapped her strong arms around his torso. I screamed in surprise and tore through my skin on my arm with the knife. I kept screaming as the bones of the wolf cracked, as the breath in his lungs left his body. Victoria sensed blood and immediately turned her body towards me, getting ready for the attack. Thats when the rest of the pack, howling in rage, attacked her. Taking her out with three quick bites from another large wolf. She was dead. I couldn't even feel relief because I was still screaming in agony.
I ran forward to the body of the large wolf, pulling his head onto my lap with all my strength. I kept screaming and soon those screams became sobs. I felt a burst of heat behind me. I knew they were already burning her. I didn't care. I only felt pain. I looked into his eyes and a huge tear rolled down the side of his face. His eyes said goodbye.
"No! You can't do this! You can't leave us! We need you! I need you!" I yelled at him, tears pouring down my face.
I felt the presence of humans behind me and watched in pain as the large wolf breathed his last breath. I screamed again as I felt his last heart beat. I felt him phase underneath me, he was a human again. I knew because he was lighter. I couldn't see him, my eyes were blind with tears. I fought as two pairs of hands, one person on each side of me, pulled me back. I didn't want to leave him, I couldn't. I kicked and screamed and punched, but it was no use. I was fighting werewolves with no real force behind it. Only agony.
I saw them pick him up and carry him away. All with grave faces. I saw tears on everyones face, and that only made it worse. Now it was real. This can't be happening. Victoria promised me one death. Me or one of them. Not him! Not him! I yelled internally.
"No, no, no, no! Please! This can't be happening!" I sobbed.
The pain was too much. I couldn't bear the torture of knowing he was gone. The last thing I saw was his black hair disappearing through the tree line. I gave into the pain and blacked out.
The last thing I though was:
She left her mark.
