I flew back to Los Angeles on Sunday morning, the day of the Teen Choice Awards.
I went straight from the airport to the shops to get an outfit for tonight. I was supposed to get to the show in two hours for hair and makeup. I was letting them do my hair, but the mask and makeup was all me.
No one knew who I was, and I planned on keeping it that way, no matter what.
I ended up buying something sweet but edgy, just like something I would normally wear as Olivia.
I arrived at the awards someplace backstage and was ushered to a dressing room by security. There was one woman in the room. She was stunning, long black hair, perfect olive skin, and deep brown eyes. I've seen her before. She was one of the best stylists in Hollywood. She'd done my mother's makeup and hair before. She'd been to my house before. She knew me."My name is Jennifer, I'm doing your hair and makeup."
"Just my hair, I do my own makeup."
"Don't be silly, Halcyon. I can keep a secret. It's not like I'll know your real name from your face."
"I doubt it, actually."
"Then, if I do, I won't tell anyone, I swear it."
"You can't say anything," I hesitated.
"I promise," she smiled.
I reluctantly removed my giant black sunglasses and Jennifer's eyes went wide.
"Olivia," she breathed.
"Don't tell."
"I won't."
She sat me down and wiped off all of my other makeup, then started on my hair.
She did my regular tight curls for Halcyon, but also did it half up half down for a little bit of fancy.
"Now, that beauty mark you add is a nice touch, but this isn't behind a camera, Livy. I'm going to put on one that isn't makeup, this one is a real fake one."
I nodded and she applied it with ease, then continued on the rest of my makeup.
"How long does it take you to do the mask?"
"At first it took like an hour, but now that I've gotten better half that, if even."
"Have you ever considered an actual mask instead of makeup?"
