Chapter 7

As Dusk Shine continued to cry his eyes out, Prince Artemis approached him through the dust, and said "Dusk Shine...what have you done?" Dusk Shine jumped back as tears ran down his face, and said "There were buffalos, and he tried to save me! It was an accident, I-I didn't mean for it to happen!" Prince Artemis embraced his nephew, and said "Of course, of course you didn't. No pony...ever means for these things to happen. But the prince is dead. And if it weren't for you, he'd still be alive." Dusk Shine became crushed as he began to feel guilty, and Prince Artemis said "Oh! What will your mother think?" Dusk Shine sniffled, and said "What am I gonna do?" "Run away, Dusk Shine." Prince Artemis said. "Run. Run away, and never return." Dusk Shine obeyed, and ran off. Then, Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk, and Aria Blaze appeared behind Prince Artemis who said "Kill him." The siren ponies took off after Dusk Shine who reached the end. He gasped when he saw the siren ponies coming after him. He climbed up, and ran to the lip, only to see a sheer drop on the other side. Seeing that the siren ponies were closing in on him, he had no choice, but to jump. He jumped down, and he took a tumble as the siren ponies chased after him. He landed in the patch of briars, and he went through the holes to get away. When Aria Blaze saw that she was running to the briar patch, she said "Whoa!" She skidded extensively, and she managed to stop just above the brambles. She let out a sigh of relief, but Adagio Dazzle, and Sonata Dusk bumped into her, propelling her into the briar patch.

She jumped up in the air as she said "Yeow!" Adagio Dazzle and Sonata Dusk laughed very hard as Aria Blazed crawled back to the top while flinching in pain. After they finished laughing, Adagio Dazzle saw Dusk Shine emerging from the far side, and running into the desert, and said "Hey, there he goes! There he goes!" As Aria Blaze picked the thorns off of her body, she said "So go get him!" "There ain't no way I'm going in there!" Adagio Dazzle said. "What, you want me to come out there looking like you? Cactus butt?!" "Ha!" Sonata Dusk said smirking. Aria Blaze glared at her, and spitted the spikes into her face. "Ouch!" Sonata Dusk said as she got rid of the spikes, and rubbed her face to soothe the pain. "But we gotta finish the job!" Aria Blaze said. "Well, he's as good as dead out there, anyway." Adagio Dazzle said looking at Dusk Shine running off. "And IF he comes back, we'll him." Aria Blaze smirked, looked at Dusk Shine said "Yeah! You hear that?! If you ever come back, we'll kill you!" The siren ponies laughed, and walked away. Later that night, the ponies gathered together as Prince Artemis said "Prince Solaris's death was a terrible tragedy, but to lose Dusk Shine, who had barely begun to live." The ponies were bowing their heads in sorrow. Even Princess Celestia was silently crying while Spike tried his best to comfort her. Twilight Sparkle rubbed against her mother while crying her eyes out.

"For me it is a deep personal loss." Prince Artemis said. "So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne." As Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk, Aria Blaze, and the other siren ponies emerged, much to the horror and dismay of Spike, Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, Twilight Velvet, and the other ponies, Prince Artemis said "Yet, out of the ashes of this tragedy, we shall rise to greet the dawning of a new era, in which pony and siren come together, in a great and glorious future." Zecora was watching from a distance, and she shook her head. She soon returned to her hut, and shedded a tear. She wiped the tear from her face, looked at the painting of Dusk Shine, and rubbed her hoof across it, smearing it in the process.
