Sorting Things Out

Liam's P.O.V

I couldn't sleep.

I had been tossing and turning in my bed for hours before I realized it was a lost cause. I got up and slipped on a thin sweatshirt over my naked upper half and tugged on a pair of loose sweats. I stepped outside and walked around kicking at rocks under my feet. I was lost in thought really, I didn't know where I was going but I just needed the fresh air, I needed to clear my mind.

I had no idea how I got there but I found myself in front of Miranda's house debating on whether or not I should know on her door at two in the morning or if I should just leave. I didn't even know why I was here, what was so important about talking to Mindy? Something inside of me told me that I needed to ask her something that I shouldn't wait another second. I walked up to her door and put my fist to the wood and knocked quietly. I waited biting my lip nervously, she's probably asleep. I turned around and began walking away from the house when I heard the click of the door.

"Liam?" Her voice barely a whisper, but it came out loud and clear in the night air.

"Um, sorry, I must have woken you up, I'm sorry." God, Liam. Nice going.

I mentally beat myself up as I watched her blink away sleep from her eyes. She looked adorable when she was barely awake. I had to stop myself from smiling when she looked back up into my eyes.

"No of course not, it's fine. I couldn't fall asleep anyway."

"Oh, yeah, neither could I." I watched as she sat on the bench outside her door and motioned for me to join her.

"What's on your mind?" She asked once I had settled down beside her.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I don't think I had ever said something so fast in my entire life.

The smile that spread across her face almost made me scream with happiness. I never knew how much it meant to me to see that smile, I never knew that I actually cared so much about her. She nodded and then turned away, her cheeks blushing deep red. I lifted my hand and held her chin so that I could tilt her face towards mine. I wanted to see the blush, I wanted to see her eyes, I wanted them to look into mine.

"You're cute when you blush, did you know that?" I found myself whispering.

I didn't mean to lean closer towards her, but I couldn't resist it, she was like this force pulling me closer and closer towards her. I pushed my finger that was under her chin and lifted it up just slightly, her breath now fanning across my face.

My lips met hers softly. It was a featherlight touch, I could have imagined it but I knew I didn't. It felt too real. I lingered there unmoving against hers for a little before I nudged my lips against hers and moved them slowly. This kiss was so different, it felt more confident, more real then the other kisses we shared. It felt like she was truly mine as her lips moved against mine. I loved the way she felt in my body, so small, yet she fit there tightly, as if she was never going to go away. I lay back on the bench and continued to kiss her, just lips against lips, moving slowly savoring the moment, memorizing her taste. After what seemed like a lifetime too soon she pulled away, breathing heavily. She lay her head on my chest and traced random patterns on the fabric not saying anything. I closed my eyes in bliss hugging her tightly against my body. My eyes fluttered shut as I began slipping into a deep comfortable sleep.

"What are you going to do about Sammi?" Niall asks the inevitable as he walks up to me on our way to class.
