Addicted To Your Touch

Mindy's P.O.V

Everything was a blur. I was sure it was just a dream. I don't even remember how I got into my own bed last night. Well I dreamt about being walked home by Liam, we didn't really talk. It was quiet, but not awkward. I remember that he stopped at my doorstep, he was looking around nervously, hands in his front pockets. I remember I dreamt about how he looked into my eyes before leaning down and stealing a featherlight kiss from my parted lips. I dreamt how he mumbled a quiet goodnight and then made his way home. I dreamt about how he looked back more than once before turning into the alleyway. But that was all a dream, I'm sure of it. There was no way that Liam Payne would do that, and thinking about that dream made my heart squeeze painfully, because to me, it felt so freaking real.

I was still in my bed, not wanting to move, not wanting to get up and go to school, not wanting to face reality, when there was a very small knock on my door. Groaning as I threw the covers off I trudged downstairs and walked up to the door opening it while I stifled a yawn.

"Good morning Mindy." A soft voice came from the doorframe.

I jerk my head up and squint my eyes. Was I still dreaming? What the hell was he doing here? Why did he look...why did he look happy?

"Liam?" I was confused, surely last night was a dream, it had to be.

"Um, I was wondering, well, you know, would you like to come to school with me?" Liam was stringing words together, he was saying them fast and rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"I-I. Wait, what happened last night?" I wanted to make sure, was it real, was my dream actually reality?

Liam looked at me and his eyebrows furrowed together and he cocked his head to the side. A mix of emotions flooded his eyes as he just stared at me for a moment. It looked like he was slightly angry, but mostly, it looked like he was so close to crying.

"Um, you don't remember?"

Then it hit me, last night wasn't a dream, last night was real. I hadn't just dreamed about getting Liam back, I actually got him back, and I couldn't help myself from letting a smile spread across my face and the blood rush through my cheeks. Before even thinking about it I jumped into his arms and hugged him, I hugged him tightly around the neck, squeezing him with everything I had.

"Mindy, you choking me." He mumbled hoarsely as he tried to pull me off of him gently.

"I'm sorry!" I jump away quickly. "I'm just really, really happy." I whisper, I was so embarrassed with myself.

I began stepping away from him, wanting to give him space. It was so foreign to me, being so close to him. But Liam seemed to have other plans. He grabbed my waist and pulled me against his body tightly. I wasn't breathing, my breathe was caught in my throat, I was frozen.

"I never said to move away." He whispered so quietly that I could have easily misheard him. "Don't worry, I'm really happy too." His lips brushed against my ear before pulling back slightly to look at me.

His eyes were locked with mine as we stared at each other. I used to hate his eyes, but now, now they were the most beautiful things I have ever seen. So warm... they were flooding with emotion, some of them I could read, the others were so confusing that I didn't know what to think. I was staring at his eyes so intently that I didn't notice they were moving closer and closer. Suddenly realizing what was happening I turned my face away quickly causing his lips to brush my cheek, the metal coolness of his lip ring pressing into my skin.

"Um, I'll be right back!" I announced louder then necessary as I pulled away from his grasp and ran upstairs.

I slammed the door behind me as I jumped into the bathroom, flinching at the sound. I had never meant to close it that hard. I looked at myself in the mirror, not recognizing the girl that was looking right back at me. She had wide eyes, her cheeks looked like they were permanently stained red, and she was breathing heavily. In other words, I looked like I was high on some new drug someone developed. I opened the tap and began flushing my face with water. After brushing my teeth I ran to my bedroom and began getting dressed, I probably would have been done quicker if I wasn't so distracted with other things, like how Liam Payne was downstairs waiting for me.

"Ok Miranda, calm down, breath." I told myself as I took a couple deep breathes and looked at my reflection one last time in the mirror.

I tightened the gold belt around my toga and walked out of my room, picking up my bag that was in the corner. I rushed downstairs, hoping to find him still waiting for me. He was right where I left him, in the middle of my living room. He was staring at the pictures on the mantel, his hands stuffed in his pockets and his posture stiff.

His head snapped towards mine when I walked into the room and I was worried. The look in his eyes wasn't the same as it was a few minutes ago. It was harder, emptier, and unreadable. Did something change? Was he regretting last night? Was he going to go back to the old Liam? What if he thought this whole thing was a mistake? What if, what if he doesn't actually think it's a good idea to be with me? I was drowning in my 'what ifs' so deeply that I didn't notice he had made his way to the front door until he called out my name.

"Miranda, are you coming?" What happened to Mindy? Was I no longer Mindy to him?

I walked out behind him, turning back to lock the front door of my flat before following him towards the school. The silence today was awkward, not like how I remembered it last night. We didn't even walk next to each other. He was slightly ahead, not even looking back to make sure I was following. The pain in my chest returned, worse then ever. I didn't think I could handle another rejection, especially not after last night.

"Liam..." I was nervous, I wanted to ask him what was wrong, but I wasn't sure I was ready for the answer I knew I was going to hear. "Why didn't you walk next to me?" We were in front of the campus now, people were crowding in the courtyard, talking loudly, some people talking about the charity fair, others talking about what they studied for.

He stopped walking and turned around to face me, his eyes still hard, not showing the warmth that I was looking for. "Because you don't want me next to you." He said through clenched teeth.

Wait, what?! I didn't want him next to me? This was something that wasn't even on my list of possibilities for the answer I thought I would receive. "Huh?" I said intelligently.

"You don't want me next to you, it's okay, whatever, I knew I was a little late anyway." This was so unlike Liam, he shouldn't be so calm, and who in the world said I didn't want him next to me?

Liam's P.O.V

It was so hard not to yell at her. But she didn't deserve it, she didn't want me near her, she made that clear when she turned her face and gave me her cheek. I wasn't going to deny that it was ripping me on the inside, but I wasn't going to admit it either.

"What the hell Liam Payne?" She growled angrily taking a step closer to me. "Who the hell told you that?"

She was actually angry...but why? I thought this would make her happy, it was what she wanted. But here she was actually glaring at me. It made me even angrier that she was going to make me tell her that it was her, I didn't want to talk about it, I just wanted to forget.

"You clearly don't want me next to you, you made it clear when I...when I tried to kiss you." I mumbled looking around as some people watched us.

I looked at her face and her expression had changed, she wasn't angry anymore, she was actually the opposite. Her beautiful eyes were filled with laughter and her shoulders were moving up and down as she tried to hold in her laughter. She was actually fucking laughing at me. What the fuck?

"Did you know you're an idiot, like honestly, I'm questioning how you have gotten this far in life?" Oh, so now she was insulting me. My fists clenched, she was infuriating, not only because of the way she was laughing at me, but because I couldn't have her and I wanted her more than I would like to admit.

"Liam...I want you to do something for me." Her voice was closer, I looked up to see her standing right in front of me, our bodies so close they were almost touching. Almost. "Don't ever think I don't want you near me unless I actually say that I don't." And then she was on her tiptoes, pulling me down, and kissing me.

It was like an instinct that I had developed because right when our lips touched I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist and pulled her up so she was closer to me. I kissed her back, closing my eyes and memorizing her mouth. I loved it, I really did. I didn't care that everyone was watching us, I just cared about her and this kiss. It felt so good to kiss her in front of everyone, because in the back of my mind, I was claiming her as mine and I wanted everyone to know that.

"But, you turned your face." I whispered as I pulled away looking into her eyes.

"Because! I don't need you smelling my morning breathe thank you very much." She chuckled, detaching her body from mine but staying close.

I didn't want to stop touching her, it felt too good, so before I even thought about it I grabbed her hand and intertwined our fingers together, her small delicate hand feeling so breakable in mine. She looked down and stared at our hands. I could see the ghost of a smile spreading across her face. She was so beautiful that it didn't matter whether she had morning breathe or not, I would have still kissed her, and enjoyed it, either way.

"Just next time, don't deny my kiss." I said being completely serious as I walked through the doors of the main building, cutting through the courtyard.

People were stopping and staring, some were being more subtle then others but most, most were being as subtle as a gunshot. I looked down and noticed how Mindy was looking around nervously. She wasn't meeting their stares, she was looking at the ground, her hand wasn't wrapped tightly around mine anymore, but I didn't let go.

"Finally! I swear I thought I was going to get grey hair before Liam was going to stop being a dickhead." Louis jumped on my back causing me to let go of Mindy's hand so that I could try and get him off me.

"Piss off Louis." I growled as he began begging Mindy for the details.

I watched her as she smiled, her cheeks blushing red. She looked so cute when she smiled, she looked so pure, so happy. Slowly the others made their way towards us, well everyone except Zayn. Harry was holding Ciara's hand and he was giving us a toothy smile, and Niall was running towards us, slipping his shirt all the way down as he gave us a cheeky smile.

"Sorry lads, I was um, busy." He lied pathetically, before placing himself between Harry and I slinging his arm over my shoulder.

Mindy's P.O.V

Louis was smiling widely as whispered quietly about the events from last night. I didn't want the others to hear, I wasn't used to them as I had gotten used to Louis over the past several weeks. I noticed as Harry walked over to the group with Ciara. She looked straight at me and gave me this look that basically said you-are-telling-me-everything-later. I just rolled my eyes and looked back at Louis. His posture was straighter and his usual easy smile looked forced. I looked at him and noticed how he kept look at the couples hands that were interlocked from the corner of his eye. It made him miserable. Being in love with your best friend who is straight. I didn't like seeing Louis sad, because someone with a face like that, with a smile like that, should always be happy. I placed my hand on his knee and he looked up, his eyes fighting to hide his emotion as he looked at me. I smiled at him warmly, trying to let him know that he wasn't alone. A small smile curled on his lips before he took a deep breathe and smiled at me again, his smile not as forced as last time.

"So that's how it goes. You fuck Sammi and then get with Miranda." Zayn's voice breaks through all the conversations and silences everyone.

He stands in front of us, glaring at each and every one of us, his mouth fixed in a hard line. It hurt to hear him say that but I knew how he felt about the tattooed girl, and I knew, I knew how it felt to know that the person you like was being with someone else, even if it was purely physical.

"Not now Zayn." Niall warned getting up and stepping right in front of him.

"Shove off Horan. I need to talk to Payne."

"No. You won't talk to him now Zayn, you're pissed and we don't need you to cause a scene in the middle of campus." Niall said firmly crossing his hands over his chest and looking at Zayn straight in the eyes.

"No Niall. He needs to understand. He needs to know that he can't just use people like that, girls aren't toys!" His voice was getting louder and louder as he rambled on trying to move Niall out of the way.

I felt a hand touch my knee and I notice that Liam was now next to me looking at me apologetically. I shook my head assuring him I was fine, I didn't want to deal with Sammi right now, I didn't want to worry about the girl that I still felt threatened by. But then I heard her voice and I knew things were going downhill from here.

"Zayn baby, don't worry about Liam. I know what he is doing, he'll come back to me. He just wants to broaden his um," She looks at me pointedly, sizing me up. "Horizons." She rolls her eyes.

What was that supposed to mean? Was she basically telling everyone that Liam was using me to see who he liked better? Who he liked to...who he liked to fuck better?! She came here to basically call me a slut in front of everyone.

"You will shut your mouth Sammi Peazer." Liam was standing and his voice was low but it made me cringe, it was filled with anger and venom. "You have no right to walk up to us and call Miranda a slut. Everyone here knows who the real one is."

"I think she does have the right Payne! After you used her like that! Fuck you Payne." Zayn growled before he grabbed Sammi's hand and stormed off pulling him behind her, not noticing the sly smile glued to her face.

"Let's go."

He grabbed my hand and then pulled me away. I walked behind him, not saying a word. We walked off campus and kept walking and walking until he turned into the 7/11. What the hell were we doing here? He paid at the counter then dragged me to the back where all the slushie flavors stood in a line. After filling it with every possible flavor he grabbed a straw and stuffed it in my hand.

"Drink it."

"Why do you want me to drink it?" I asked as we walked out of the gas station. I took a sip and waited for him to answer.

"I don't know just drink it. It will make you feel better."

When the hell was I feeling sad. I mean, Sammi was confused, and jealous, it was so obvious. Even though her words affected me, it wasn't like I took her seriously. I looked up at Liam who was staring at me intently trying to read every slight move I made. It made me feel fuzzy inside as I saw how much he cared. It was amazing how someone could change overnight.

That day we didn't go to classes, we walked around the CAS and I drank my slushie offering him a sip every once in a while. At first we weren't holding hands but I wanted to so badly, I wanted to feel his touch. It didn't last long because he quickly grabbed my hand and hasn't let go of it since.

**

"I'm sorry about this morning." He said as we stood in front of the door to my flat.

"Don't worry about it, it's fine."

"No it isn't, I don't want people to call you a slut. Because you aren't, you're far from it."

I liked that Liam wanted to assure me that I wasn't. I knew I wasn't, but it felt nice, it made me feel warm inside. Knowing that he no longer hated me. I assured him once more it was fine and then opened the door to my flat.

I looked at him, waiting to see what he would do. I didn't want to kiss him first, I had already done that today, I didn't want to push him, I didn't even know if we were "officially" together. He hadn't actually called me his girlfriend yet. He lifted up his hand and brushed away a strand of hair and tucked it behind my ear. He leaned down and brushed his lips against mine softly. They lingered there a little while longer before he stood up and turned around.

"Goodnight Mindy, I'll see you tomorrow."
