Lian rushed through the entrance doors. She was late... very very late. She looked at her watch just as her phone buzzed again.
'Nicole, please I really can't handle this right now.' Lian told the caller.
'Lee but Mr Marseau is adamant that he wants you at the shoot to sort this out.' Nicole moaned and Lian stopped to take a deep breath.
'Nicole, we have worked with Mr Marseau before he is a drama queen and loves all the attention. Deal with him please. I really don't have the time right now. So go pamper him but don't call me unless the building is on fire!' Lian rang off just as the lift door opened.
Lian rushed into her flat and dashed into the shower; Derick would have her head if she was any later. She had a quick shower and heard the song 'Sweet Dreams' by Beyoncé bellowing from her phone and she stilled. Derick was definitely pissed to be calling her already.
Lian decided to finish dressing before she called him back. Derick was hosting dinner for her parents just to touch base before his parents arrived at the weekend. Lian was a bit apprehensive about meeting Derick's mother who it appears was a typical Korean mother. So far Lian knew that it would be a great battle when his mother arrived.
Lian did not call Derick back because Nicole had called and she spent the entire cab journey guiding Nicole through the shoot. Although her base was in Canada she was temporarily in London to cover London Fashion Week. The last few months had been great. She was relieved that her steady relationship with Derick had been surprisingly smooth.
They worked around each other's schedules and now they were maintaining a great balance. Lian was happy everything was now in the open. Tania and Lucas were coping well with Baby Luke and appeared genuinely pleased that she and Derick were now a couple.
Lian looked at her watch and fixed her dress. Her parents would understand that work was important to her and a crisis was inevitable especially in her line of work. But being late when her man was cooking for her parents looked really bad on her part.
'Ms Keaton, welcome.' Xavier the butler greeted her as she entered Derick's seven bedded house in Mayfair.
'Are they here yet?' she asked him quietly.
He nodded and she sighed, 'My parents?' and he nodded again. Lian cringed inwardly and followed Xavier to the reception room where everyone was gathered.
'Miss Keaton.' Xavier said before exiting the room. Lian stood there in her sedate blue tea dress with matching shoes and felt like a primary school girl late for class.
'Good evening sorry I'm late; work is hectic this week with all the shoots and interviews.' She walked over to Derick and kissed him on the cheek. He glared at her before she went over to her parents and greeted them as well.
'You are late Missy.' Her mother whispered in her ear.
'Not good for a first impression Lian.' Her father murmured as she hugged him.
'First impression?' Lian questioned as she stood up straight.
'Lian I would like to introduce you to my parents?' Derick stated and Lian froze as she looked at her parents.
'Go on.' Her mother encouraged as Lian turned around and noticed a couple on the other side of the room. She made her way back to Derick who was watching her with a slightly amused look. She was not sure if he was angry or just entertained by her reaction.
'Derick.' She said encouragingly as he put his hand on her back and led her to greet his parents. Lian had not noticed the couple when she entered and she hoped her face was not showing her embarrassment.
