Lian walked out of the shower and moisturised her body. Derick's plane had landed and she wanted to be ready when he walked through the door. This last month had been very hard on him. He was still suffering from bouts of sickness and frankly she was a bit worried. All the tests he had done revealed nothing. He did not have a cold but he was having periods of tiredness, nausea and he was more moody than usual even his tastes had changed.

Was he suffering from cold feet?

She knew his mother was not easing off in fact she had pushed forth harder and was frankly using Derick's 'fragile' state to manipulate her motherly woes. Lian hated it but maybe being around his mother would help appease her and relieve her of the upcoming wedding.

Lian stood in front of the mirror to dress and the conversation she had earlier with May flooded her head.

Lian looked at May and laughed.

'I am definitely not pregnant.' Lian told the designer who was looking at her sceptically.

'You sure? I mean your hips do seem a bit wider and your breasts appear fuller.' May continued to assess her critically and Lian grew even more uncomfortable.

Lian moved her hands like she was swatting a fly.

'There is no way. I mean I can't have children.' Lian admitted loudly.

'Oh really? How do you know?' May inquired.

'Well I had a miscarriage ten years ago and I developed an infection afterward which scarred my uterus and fallopian tube. The doctors told me then that the damage was irreparable making it impossible for me to carry a child since the lining was so badly impaired.' Lian informed May.

'Oh that is so sad. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring back sad memories.' May tried to sympathise and Lian smiled but her next words stunned her even more. 'That was ten years ago though. One of my primary school teachers had fibroids removed from her womb when she was in her early twenties and she conceived two children in her forties. She told me that her uterus had healed.'

Lian looked at May and responded softly. 'My scarring was beyond repair.'

'I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. Me and my big mouth again.' May apologised.

'No worries, I understand you were just being observant but I'm over it and Derick he understands as well.' May gave her a hug.

'He is a good man.' Lian smiled at the other woman.

'He sure is; I'm ready to reveal myself.' Lian said trying to regain her feeling.

'Sure.' May told her as she opened the dressing room door.

As Lian stood naked in front of her bedroom mirror looking at her body, she turned to view her body from as many angles as possible. She did not feel any different. She held her breasts which were a bit fuller and her waist was wider. This was not strange since she looked like this during her menstrual cycle. She had put on some weight but it was nothing to run to the gym for a seven hour work out and start eating grass all day.

What if?

Lian did not even want to contemplate the possibility of pregnancy. There was no way she was pregnant. She and Derick had stopped using any form of protection months ago and she had never been on the pill. If she was pregnant she would know. The last time she had morning sickness and all the major symptoms. She felt no different now and there was no reason to raise her hopes up.
