Chapter 19 ... Sparks!

'It means you're pregnant!' Tania shouted and enveloped Lian in a hug. Lian remained stiff the words not sinking in.

Tania was shaking her and shouting but Lian remained frozen unable to digest the news she had just heard. After Tania calmed down Lian remained quiet.

'It seems you're pregnant and by the high levels of hCG you might be into your second trimester.' Lisa informed them and Lian still had not said anything.

'Lian. Lian' Tania held her hand and came to kneel in front of her. 'You're pregnant.'

Lian looked at Lisa and said, 'Are you sure. I mean is there anyway to know absolutely.'

'Sure, I'll arrange to do an ultrasound but I am positive you are expecting.' Lisa stood up and left the room as the door closed Lian let the tears flow. Tania gathered her into her arms and rocked her as Lian let her emotions pour out.

Tania wiped Lian's face. Her own make up smudged as Lian used a toilette to return the favour.

'It can't be Tania, I mean how?' Lian questioned herself still not wanting to accept the news.

'It can happen; the body is a strange being. It can baffle the most scientific minds. I guess your uterus healed  and the scarring minimised over time. I am so happy for you.' Tania gushed but Lian was holding herself back until he had more proof.

'I have set up the machine in the ultrasound room could you follow me please.' Lian stood up on shaky legs and was thankful to Tania for being by her side.

They entered a small room at the end of the corridor. There was a chair and a gown on a small table.

'Put on the gown then come through to the next room.' Lisa instructed as Tania gave her a hug and walked through to another room with Lisa. Tania knew she needed the space and Lian was grateful her friend had sensed that.

Lian remained standing there for a while before she took a deep breath and started to undress. She put on the hospital gown and followed into the adjoining room. Tania gave her a smile. Lian got on the table and tried to relax but she was so tense. Tania arranged the gown discretely while the doctor placed some cold gel on her stomach. The instrument prodded her stomach and was a bit uncomfortable.

'Now look at the screen.' Lian looked at the screen just as she heard a fast heartbeat. She gasped as she looked at the monitor. There on the screen was the outline of her baby.

The doctor continued to move the instrument over her stomach and Lian remained speechless.

'By the size of the foetus you are definitely in your second trimester. I would say over sixteen weeks.' Lisa stated and Tania gasped.

'Lian look there is the proof. You are having a baby.' Tania was jumping but Lian was too full of emotion to even move.

She was seeing her child which was in her womb and she was so happy she was afraid to say anything.

'Looking at the uterus it appears to be lined normally there is very little evidence of scarring. The cervix is rigid and has a good thickness. The foetus is moving well.' Lisa continued and Lian continued to stare at the screen. Her baby appeared to wave and stretch and she could tell that it would be a boy.

'The secret is out now, that is definitely a male.' The doctor continued and Lian bawled out.

'I'm having a baby. Oh Tania, I'm so scared.' Lian sobbed and her best friend comforted her closely.

'It will be fine.' Tania reassured her but Lian was not convinced.

'What if I lose it again?' Lian asked fear rippling through her. 'I don't even feel it moving like last time. I feel nothing isn't that bad?'
