Although he convinced himself that, he did not like her, his body thought otherwise. She turned him on but Derick refused to acknowledge that blatant fact. Lian was trouble with a capital T in italics and in bold. She was not what he needed and he was sure that if he allowed his body to rule him she would do more than mess with him, she would have the power to totally disrupt his studies and his well ordered life.
The only way he could keep resisting her is by being a jerk.
'...therefore, I will accept financial costs to ensure that you make your coursework submission on time.'
She stopped and looked around to find Derick watching her intently.
He started to clap slowly.
Lian wanted to throttle the jerk. To think she had wasted her energy and her thoughts to prepare an apology and the guy had the audacity to ridicule her sincere efforts.
'I did not take you here to throw you over the cliff but you sure are pushing me close to doing it.' She forced out trying to make her voice sound light although her stomach was tight with anger. Derick did not bat an eyelid as he responded smoothly.
'The thought did cross my mind considering your track record.'
'You!' she shouted ready to punch him and maybe commit murder by toppling him over the cliff, she would feel 100% better for it. However she knew he would still have the last laugh when she would be jailed for life.
Ha! Derick was not worth that much headache.
'Why can't you ever be nice, you're all stiff and --and so annoying I just wanted to be nice to you to call a truce for our friends' sake. Tania and Lucas had a major blow out last night and she was an absolute mess and it's my fault but you're --you're just ...' she fisted her hands and closed her eyes.
'Just?' he responded softly.
She opened her eyes and found him standing right in front of her, the air stilled around her as she forgot to breathe. He was so close she could see the small mole under his chin. He was too close in fact, she tried to step back but she was already against the car. The air changed somehow. It was no longer cool but charged with emotion and something else. She tried to identify the feeling she had now as her body tightened and her insides got queasy. This guy was playing some kind of game with her and she could not control it.
She swallowed as she looked at his lips, they looked so sensual, and soft and --- and ---- what in Jupiter's second moon was she thinking? This was Derick, her nemesis, the guy who had slapped her like a two year old; the nerd who seldom smiled and had no personality. She had to get a grip on her emotions. She could not look at his face.
'You're too close,' she whispered as she raised her hands to push him away. She stood up straighter as her hands pushed against the soft cotton of his t-shirt. She felt his muscled chest beneath her hands as their firmness rippled under her palms. Her legs went weak.
On their on accord, her hands trailed down his chest instead of pushing him away. It was as if some imaginary force drew her to him. He was sexy there was no denying that fact but he was a brute, a brute who was letting her hands roam over him. He reached out and slowly lifted her face with his hand.
She gazed at him surprised to see the raw emotion she was feeling showing brightly on his face. Like a magnet, her hands found their way up to his throat as her hands encircled his neck and he pulled her into an embrace that locked her in his arms. Her breasts skimmed his chest and she felt her nipples harden. A frisson of pleasure escaped from her as she raised her feet and stared into the darkest eyes she had ever seen. His eyes were clouded with emotion and passion as his lips descended on hers.
