Chapter 35
When we go back downstairs, walking this time, eyes watch me as I go to my seats. When I cast my eyes over the room I see shame in Goldilocks' eyes. Good. I have enough to worry about.
Dorothy and myself sit down while my dad walks to the far side of the table and stays standing. "Ok. So as I was saying, Charlie and I will take care of the witches. They made a big mistake taking residence in my emerald city. I know every inch of that castle, including some secret passages I had put there in case I was ever in need of them.
So here's the plan. Dorothy, Goldie, the scarecrow, and Charlie will go in through one of these secret passages. Lancelot, ,the lion and I will head straight for the city, drawing their attention. When they come out we will fight them while you guys go into the city and gain the guards favour, urging them to help us retake the city. As soon as you do that, I'll need you to come out and help me with the witches." He breathes in." I should be able to hold them for that long."
"And if you can't hold them off for that long? What then?" I ask. I don't want him getting hurt.
"Well that is why I have Lancelot and the lion with me. All three of us with our combined strength should be able to hold them off."
"I ask again dad. And if you can't?"
He looks me right in the eyes. "If we can't than I know you will save us. That is why you'll be getting the army to follow you. With an army at your side and the powers that I know you can wield, I know you will be able to stop the witches."
"Ok." I memory comes into my mind as I remember reading the wizard of oz book. "Can't we just pour water onto the wicked witch of the west?"
"This doesn't work like the story you have read. Water only negates her powers. And even if the story was correct, would you really want to melt your own sister?" A worried look flashes across his face. Does he think I would be that cruel?
"No of course not." I reply back as quickly as I can and see relieve overflow his face. "
The other's eyes just shift from me to my dad, back and forth, back and forth until resting on my dad again as he starts to talk again.
"Tomorrow we will leave. I will show Charlie the secret passage tonight then we will come back, have a good sleep and go early tomorrow morning. Really early. We don't want the witches to have a good sleep before we kick them out of my castle."
Everyone gets up to leave. I start to get up as well to get ready.
"Charlie could you wait for a minute. I need to talk to you before you go get ready."
"Sure."
I wait as everyone leaves the room. Dad moves closer to me. "We'll go early tomorrow morning. Then we will face the witches together. Without everyone else's help. I don't want to put anyone else at risk."
"We can't go alone though dad. What if we lose? Then they will all be left here to the mercy of the witches."
He looks at me with a smirk on his face and to my surprise, giving the seriousness of the situation, winks at me. "I guess we'll just have to win then won't we?"
