Chapter 41

We appear and the whole group of us fall over like bowling pins onto the ground. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice my dad jump up in a fighting stance. His face floods with relief when he realizes that it's us.

I get up and seeming super cool, make the bars of his cage disappear. He rushes toward me and envelops me in a big hug. "Charlie. I'm so sorry. I should have waited for you."

"Well why didn't you?" Anger flashes in my eyes. We could have taken the witches out if he hadn't rushed in.

"I guess I would say it's my fatal flaw. I rush in without others because I don't want to put them in danger." He lets out a long drawn out sigh. "But I don't think about what would happen if I fail."

I really don't like when people have a legitimate excuse for why they do stupid things. Makes it hard to be mad at them for doing said stupid thing. "It's fine. But now can we actually defeat these witches, together? I don't think I'll have the power to teleport us all out again." I do have the power to, but I don't want him to know that.

"I guess we will have to, fatal flaw or not. So." He stops talking to think for a moment. "Ok I've got it. I'll go with Goldie, Dorothy and Toto. Charlie will go with Lancelot, Scarecrow, and Lion. I'll check.." My dad starts rambling off but I cut him short.

"We are not splitting up. We have a better chance together." I contest, Dorothy nods in agreement. Hopefully because she would have wanted to be in my group instead. The kiss on the cheek flashes into my mind again and I shake the thought of it away. I can't think of things like these right now."How would we be even defeating the witches together if we are in different locations?"

"Fair enough. We'll stick together/ But be quiet, we can't risk waking the guards up." We all nod in agreement. I break the lock and we all start to go of of the dungeon.Suddenly my dad stops and faces the 4 guards that were with us. "Charlie careful. I'll take care of them, you find out which direction we should be heading in."

Before I can say anything he leaps at the guards. They raise their swords in shock and I close my eyes instinctively, afraid of what might happen. The noise from the whole room stops. I hear gasps from Goldie and Dorothy. I can't bear to open my eyes to see what might have happened, yet I know I will have to. Slowly opening my eyes I almost gasp myself at the sight. My father and the guards are frozen, milliseconds before my dad is about to get impaled by one of the soldier's swords.

"They are allies". I manage to say before passing out and falling to the ground for the second time today.
