Chapter 59

"Come on my lord. There must be something we can do." One of the knights, whose name I find out to be Gerard, begs of me.

"I just can't think of anything. If I am to face her again it must be facing her alone. She is too powerful for you guys." I answer back to try to dissuade them from seeing her kill me.

"I'm sorry to say this sir, but High Wizard," Another of the knights of Oz buts in, "but aren't you not powerful enough too?"

Oh ouch. Way to boost my confidence random knight. "I can and I will." With that I teleport away leaving a puff of smoke in my wake.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I find myself walking toward the Munchkin village. That was the last thing she saw in her weird cloud magic thing. Maybe she went there.

The town does indeed look a lot better u

now. A couple Munchkins see me and run up to me, tears in their eyes. "You were there weren't you? "When Glinda died."

I guess Dorothy wasn't the only one to see me. "I was. I'm sorry I couldn't save her."

The Munchkin looks confused. "But you did save her. She came back today saying that the witch being scared of made it so that Glinda could grow back. None of us knew she had this power but we aren't complaining."

"But. That's impossible. I've seen a lot of things in these last few days but reforming after being turned to ash seems a bit too much." Then I realize what the Munchkin just said. "You say she came back today?"

"Yes why?"

"Tell all the Munchkins to leave. She isn't Glinda!"

"Well then who is she? She must be Glinda." The Munchkin protests. It reminds me of when I saw my mom back in Camelot and she disappeared right in front of my eyes. I didn't want it to be true at first.

"It's my mother turned evil."

Just as I reply back, Glinda comes into view, walking out of one of the houses. She wears a long white dress and a silver crown atop her head. Munchkins follow behind lifting up the dress so it doesn't drag along the ground. "Well that was quick of you. I was hoping that I'd at least have a bit of fun with you first." With that said she morphs her clothes back to a dark black dress with a skull necklace around her neck and midnight black rings. The Munchkins that were around us drop their draws in shock or horror, I can't tell which, maybe a bit of both. They then run quickly, their little legs moving fast.

Quickly she throws a bolt of lightning at me. Somehow I manage to dodge it. I conjure a portal behind her then a gust of wind to push her through it before jumping in myself.

She lands on her back, near the gravestones of my sister and father. I land on my feet just over her. She looks at the gravestones and laughs in delight. I have to struggle to keep a straight face. The sadness at seeing my own mother like this is struggling with me inside. She flies up and kicks me backwards.

As I fall I look at my watch. One minute left until the 48 hours are up. I should let her kill me now. She conjures a fireball in her hand and throws it at me, a wicked smile on her face as she does.

Time slows as the fireball is about to hit me. Death appears in a puff of smoke. "Is this your choice than Jack? I would assume this is your plan as you are about to be killed at the 48 hour mark."

"Yes." I reply in what seems like a millisecond. "My actions caused my father and sister to die. I must fix this."

"Very well sir." Death replies. It's hard to tell but I think he is happy with my choice." For making this sacrifice, I will make sure that your death is painless."

"Thank you", I say but he's already gone and the fireball hits me. The second it hits me I see my dad and sister appear above me, my mother's face turns to horror. Then I slip into the abyss.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I slowly wake up, surprised at how I'm alive. I sit up to find myself on a boat and I let out a loud gasp. My surroundings feature the wailing of fiery spirits from and a dark chasm filled with more spirits. The boat approaches a dock in the air, guarded by a three headed dog and a sign above it stating "Welcome to the Underworld".
