Guardian Angels

Gabriel watched Sam while he slept. ok that sounded creepy lets try again, 

Gabriel protected Sam while he slept much like his brother Castiel protected Sam's brother Dean

Neither Winchester knew of this the angels would always poof away whenever they showed signs of waking up to somewhere else.

For Gabriel it was pretty easy Sam didn't have as many nightmares as Dean so it usually made his nights mellow.

However there where those occasional nights where Sam would start whimpering and thrashing in his bed Gabriel would stand up from the chair he had been perched walk over to Sam and sooth him, Stroking his hair back and whispering in his ear sometimes using his Mojo until Sam's whimper's turned into snores again and Gabriel would stroke his hair one last time before going back to his perch waiting for daylight. 

When the brothers where up and about however he'd talk to Castiel and on how he was unintentionally falling for Sam and it was during one of those talks where Cas let it slip that he was in a relationship with Dean.

"So it's not wrong that I like him" Gabriel had thought happily 

 His happiness increasing once Sam asked him out to which Gabriel had pretty much broke Sam's ribs with a hug. 

'And now' he thought smiling at his sleeping hunter, 

He really couldn't be happier.
