Slowly, ever so slowly, he glides his fingers across the soft pink, fleshy skin. Small scabs speckles the area he touches before he runs his hands down to the light scars of small cuts on the shoulder. An eerie smile crawls across his face. His teeth glint with an unusual shine before it sinks into the soft layer of meat.

The recipient shudder at the familiar impact and chokes back his screams of pain. He dares not make a sound. The flow of the blood felt hot as it runs in reverse, leaving his limbs feel cold. Energy of his flickering life is being swallow and he had no strength in him to resist. The thought of running seems to be a pipe dream as the heavy chains bares an astonishing weight on this weak boy. The estimated time the boy calculated for his death also draws near. Soon he'll be free of this pain, the nightmares, and the fear. The full moon will be his sole visitor for his funeral.

Pain in his neck lessens as he feels bloody teeth leave his skin. He grimace at the lingering pain and grit his teeth. The man notice this behavior and asks, "Child, why is it you do not feel the exchange? The blessing we give you as you give us?"

This was a first. After so many painful exchanges someone had finally spoken to him. Even if he wanted to reply the words wouldn't come. A throat terribly parched and symptoms of anemia shot clearly in the working mind of the boy and muted him. However his instincts were not yet silenced and unaware he shakes his head in response.

A frown cross the man's lips and he confess his pity, "That certainly ruin my appetite, but no matter, you'll die soon by the looks of it. So just let go and meet your grave sooner than later."

For any well-off humans these words would be taken as hurtful and rude but for this human boy it was music for his crazed mind. The unconscious instinct of wanting to live breaks at this unseemly permission given to him. With a soft sigh he let go. He close his eyes and slowly breathe out. Muscles relax and his body goes limp. Now the eternal slumber he wished for is here.

Sadly death wasn't in his fate yet as he heard a loud crash. An echo of a woman's scream reach his ears and wakes him up from his sleep. He didn't care and he returns back to close his eyes to only feel a scorching heat lick his skin. Another nightmare? Just before death, oh how cruel the gods are to him, but he accepted his fate already so this was minor in his list of fears.
