21|| Uncomfortable Discoveries

Quickly Owain and Leo return to Takumi's room. They are stun at the fact that Lady is standing in front of the door. She didn't say anything when she made eye contact with Leo.

"Water nymph of the graying seas! Thou hast given an elixir to my companion. An elixir of death," Owain calls out her actions in agony. "Our necks will sooner hit the blade than jewels once tongues are caught!"

"He has kicked you out Leo," Lady states as she disregards Owain. "I was mistaken that he would ask you to help."

"My help?" Her words pop curiosity into Leo. He would've like to ask her reason for her actions but that is not the time.

"Fujin could intake large amounts without hassle but there's always a possibility, so a safety net is preferable," Lady breathlessly explains without being prompt. "Especially now since things changed."

"You chose this roundabout way instead of explaining?!" Leo couldn't believe this. They could've avoided a lot of stuff if she actually spoke up.

"It's better seeing the-"

The door swings open and harshly bangs against the wall. Takumi looks royally pissed as he walks out. He is still shirtless but all the bandages that were wrapped around him are gone. Just the scent of disinfectant and smeared blood linger on his skin.

"By the stars of! Takumi your leg was broken!! You shouldn't..." Owain starts off loudly before taking a step back at a realization. He readies himself in a defensive stance. Blue eyes didn't waver once they meet amber ones.

Takumi ignores Owain and steps close to Lady. With a crudeness Leo isn't used to seeing, Takumi drags her inside. Murmurs of whispers can be heard through the door. The longer they spoke the more Takumi's tone change into anger.

"Friend, what in the Lord's blessing has happened? He should be of one who walks beneath the light but he acts as if he isn't tainted by the elixir created by the shadows." Leo looks Owain straight in the eye. He would like to explain everything to him but he couldn't. Information like this should only come from Takumi.

Leo keeps his silence and folds his arm in discomfort. Lady's words have inflicted worry and regrettably curiosity in him.

The door slams open once more. Takumi comes storming out and heads off somewhere. Leo peers inside to find Lady perfectly unharmed and unaffected. Owain not missing his chance asks her, "Shadow Huntress, spare a few breaths of yours to illuminate the darkness you cast upon us. A goddess will not see us once her wrath is awakened."

"Apologies Exorcist Odin, I couldn't send him home as things were. I assure you that no one else knows or practice these methods so please punish only me," her apology was the least dry thing Leo heard from her yet. Her back is perfectly straight with her head rise just enough to meet eye contact.

Owain fidgets from the straightforward terms of the woman. Leo could tell he is unsure how to handle her with her radiating an attitude of professionalism and elegance. "F-fiendish woman, you show compassion for your companions but trick an ally into becoming the prey you hunt. Words of virtues cannot disguise the sinful deed you inflicted on the said child. Repent by offering the truth about the infallible light."

A small frown replaces her unseemly nonchalant expression and she shakes her head. "By my master's wishes, there is little I could share about Fujin to others. If you like answers, ask him yourself, surely he'll comply."

"Then we wait. Meanwhile, I will place a charm upon you unfortunate sun. It'll inhibit the warring goddess' anger." Lady stiffens slightly at Owain's offer. This calls attention to Leo that she, in fact, had already experienced a bout of unexplainable actions Owain does for a 'ritual'. Leo gives her a silent condolence since he as well once suffered three hours of it before.
