“Paisley, hurry up! If you’re late for this meeting, everything will be ruined!” My manager Sierra shouted as I struggled to slip my shoes on. “I’m coming!” I replied, whizzing down the stairs so fast I nearly slipped.
By the time we had both made it out to the car, it was 11:17, meaning we had approximately eight minutes to get to SyCo. This sent Sierra into another fit of panic. “We’ll be fine,” I assured her. She simply glared at me, a sense of playfulness behind it, “We better be, or it’s coming out of your paycheck.”
We pulled into the parking lot at 11:23 and I ran up to the conference room, darting in just in time. Simon glanced up over the glasses that sat perched on his nose, “Ah, glad to see you on time for once, Miss Ramone.” A light blush tinged my cheeks as I took my usual seat at the conference table.
I had a habit of being late for things, in case you couldn’t already tell.
“So, you may be wondering why you’re here,” Simon said, closing his book and clasping his hands together, resting them on top of it. I nodded enthusiastically. “I am! Sierra wouldn’t tell me anything!”
He laughed, “Good, she wasn’t supposed to. I’ve got some good news…I booked you as an opening act on someone’s tour…” Eagerly, I leaned closer in my chair. Simon had been trying to find me a spot on someone’s tour for weeks now, as I wasn’t yet famous enough for my own headlining tour.
“That’s great! Who’s is it?”
“You will be one of the two opening acts for none other than…One Direction!”
My mouth dropped. “Are you serious?!” I exclaimed. He nodded, laughing slightly.
“However, there is a slight catch.”
I sighed at this. Of course there was. There was always a catch.
“You are required to fake-date one of the boys in the other opening band, and openly flirt with either Harry or Niall.” I crinkled my brow in confusion.
“Why?” “Because people will eat it right up,” he replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “So are you in or not?”
“Who’s the opening band?” I pondered, sighing. “An Aussie band called 5 Seconds of Summer. They’re quite good, actually. Have you heard of them?”
The name sounded familiar, and an unsure feeling quickly filled my gut. I pushed it away figuring it was nothing.
“No, but they sound cool I guess…I’m in.”
Since the tour would be taking off in a week, and Simon wanted us all to get a feel for each others voices, he arranged a meeting so that we could all get to know each other. I was nervous, to say the least. I mean, I had never really been good with people—boys in particular—and now I was about to be stuck in a room with 9 of them, 5 of which being members of one of the biggest boybands of this time.
