It had been two months since the start of their search for Vlad, yet to no avail. Sagwa had been getting regular visits from Merena still, and she kept telling Sagwa that Vlad would be found when the time was right.
As much as Sagwa wanted to believe that, she feared that when they finally found Vlad it would be too late; she had lost a lot of strength and could barely walk without passing out.
She was dying and from the looks of it, she would be gone within the next month
It saddened her because she and Kreed had become extremely close in the past few months.
She now sat with her friends surrounding her in the kitchen.
"Sagwa, you're looking terrible. You're losing strength and energy." Said Gabe.
Sagwa sighed, "I know, but there's nothing we can do. Without Vlad, there's no cure. Without that cure, I will die."
Kreed walked over to the counter she sat on and rested his hands on either sides of her legs, "Hybrid, there is another way. Drink blood "
Both Gabe and Red frowned at this.
Sagwa shook her head, "I can't. I won't. That's exactly what Jack wants, I will not turn into a blood thirsty monster." She pushed Kreed away and dropped to her feet, but as she turned to make her way to the room, suddenly her legs gave in and she went crashing down.
Kreed caught her unconscious body, "Gabe, we need blood."
"No, absolutely not, she said no."
Kreed sighed, "Red, Gabe, go and get raw ox liver, if she eats it she'll be a little better."
Although neither of them trusted Kreed they still left to find ox liver.
Kreed picked Sagwa up and turned to Raya and Em, "You two sit tight." He took Sagwa into the room and placed her on the bed, locking the door, he went over to the bed and kneeled beside it; taking his hunting knife from his boot he made a cut across his wrist and as soon as the blood started running out he held it to Sagwa's lips.
Her eyes remained closed as she grabbed onto his arm, holding the wrist to her mouth as she desperately drank from the wound.
Within seconds Kreed realised she wasn't stopping and that could prove fatal for him
"Hybrid!"
Suddenly she took a bite out of his wrist before diving off of the bed, tackling him to the floor and going straight for his neck as she straddled him.
Her teeth sank into his neck and he let out a moan, "Hybrid. You're gonna kill me."
Suddenly Sagwa's eyes flew open and she sat up, looking down at him with worry in her strange colored eyes; blood dripping down her mouth.
"Kreed! Oh god. Are you okay? I could have killed you!"
"You feeling better, Hybrid?"
"Of course. But I nearly killed you!"
Kreed grinned, "If it meant you could live, I'd die day after day."
Sagwa leant down, resting her head on his chest, "I'm so sorry." She pulled away slightly and their eyes met, and suddenly things changed.
Sagwa moved toward Kreed, their lips meeting as if it was what was supposed to happen all along.
Sagwa felt so right as she and Kreed kissed, she got tingles down her arms and legs as Kreed put his hands on her waist, going under her shirt.
"What the fuck is going on here?"
Sagwa jumped to her feet to see the door open and Gabe standing glaring at them.
Kreed stood, "She's fine. She drank "
Raya and Em pushed in, both gasping at the sight of Kreed.
Gabe frowned at Sagwa, "You could have killed him."
Kreed stepped forward, "But she didn't so its fine."
Gabe glared at him before turning back to Sagwa, "So what now? You're going to start draining each of us till you can find more supplies?"
Sagwa shook her head, "Of course not!"
Kreed put an arm around her lower back, "Hybrid, I was thinking, I would like to be your donor from now on."
Sagwa sighed, "But what if I kill you?"
"You won't."
Sagwa nodded, "We can try."
Kreed grinned, in a sick sort of way he loved that he had her mark on him.
Gabe cleared his throat, "Em, fix Kreed up. Sagwa, can we talk?"
Sagwa knew by the tone of his voice that it was something important so she nodded and followed him out to the balcony, closing the glass doors behind her.
Gabe leant against the railing, "How are you feeling after the blood?"
"A little better " She wiped her mouth, remembering the blood.
Gabe cleared his throat, "You're eyes look amazing. They have this dark red ring around what looks like diamonds."
Sagwa sighed, "I know you didn't bring me out here to discuss my eyes. Gabe, what's going on?"
"Sagwa. What's going on between you and Kreed."
"I really don't know," she answered truthfully, "We have a connection. An even stronger one now."
"Sagwa, you were making out with him. If I hadn't come in when I did, things would have gone much further. And that's not the type of person you are, you don't just go sleeping around. He's a stranger Sagwa, a hunter, all he's going to do is hurt you. I love you, that will never change, please, just give me another chance. Come back to me, come back where you belong."
Sagwa took a step back, "Where I belong is certainly not with you, Gabe. You hurt me, you broke me. If you loved me so much, you wouldn't have cheated. Please understand that there is no second chance for you, there never will be." She turned and went inside, going to Kreed who sat on the couch as Em finished patching up the wound on his neck.
"Em, Gabe needs a friend."
Em gave her a quizzical look.
Sagwa sighed, "I don't like you, but he needs someone to be there for him."
Em nodded and walked away.
As Sagwa sat down, Kreed turned to her, "What was that about?"
"Gabe and I used to date, he cheated on me with Em. Now he's asking me what's going on between you and me, because he wants me back."
Kreed frowned, "So, Hybrid, what did you tell him?"
Sagwa shrugged, "That I don't know what exactly is going on between us, but no matter what, he and I have no chance."
Kreed nodded, "Well, I am wearing your bite marks," he took one of Sagwa's hands in his, "So I would like to think you're mine."
Sagwa smiled, "Technically, you are mine."
Kreed returned the smile before leaning forward and kissing her. Both of them were oblivious to the look on Red's face as he stood off to the side.
Raya cleared her throat as she took a step closer to Red, "Hon, you should really speak to her."
Red sighed, "What for? She wants the big bad hunter, not the nerdy scientist."
Raya raised a brow, "Nerdy?" she squeezed one of his biceps, "Well, nerd or not, you've got some muscle. And in any case, this is Sugs, she doesn't care about all that."
Red knew she was right, Sagwa wasn't one to care about looks, but he knew her well, she wasn't interested in him at all; she saw him as a best friend.
Red frowned at Gabe, who came storming in with Em close behind.
Raya sighed, "He screwed up, he needs to accept that and move on."
Red nodded before heading to the lounge where Gabe had taken a seat across from Sagwa and Kreed.
"So he tries to kill you, and then he feeds the monster within you, and you decide to sleep with him."
Sagwa narrowed her eyes, "Watch it, Gabe. I am not sleeping with anyone."
Gabe was not letting it go, "You know what hurts me, Sagwa? The fact that you would rather choose a stranger than the man you shared a life with."
Sagwa rolled her eyes, "I wouldn't have to choose if you hadn't fucked up and cheated on me."
Red and Raya exchanged looks, both worried by where this was going.
Gabe exhaled, "Sagwa! Please, just hear me out. I made a mistake, its what we do. Can you honestly not forgive me?"
Sagwa sighed, "I have forgiven you, Gabe, but that doesn't mean I want a relationship with you."
Gabe sighed but said nothing, he swatted Em's hand away as she tried to rest it on his knee.
The dog came running in and jumped up onto the couch next to Sagwa.
"So, um, back to looking for Vlad?" Asked Red, earning him a glare from both Kreed and Gabe.
Suddenly Sagwa stood with a frown, "What-" she took a few steps forward, her head tilted slightly, her face a mix between confusion and concentration.
Kreed stood, "Hybrid?"
Sagwa walked slowly toward the balcony, her head snapping up when she got closer, "Trisha." She walked out onto the balcony and looked over.
And she saw Darla with her little sister's lifeless body at her feet.
Sagwa let out a menacing scream that sounded like an extremely large giant wolf growling before she swung herself over the ledge.
Kreed swore, "There she does it again."
Red and Gabe ran for the stairs with Kreed close behind, all three of them knowing that Sagwa would kill Darla.
When they got to the front of the building, they found a much larger Sagwa, fangs out, longer arms and legs, long sharp talons for nails, her smaller teeth the same as a wild wolf and her hair a strange misty white/gray colour.
She held Darla in the air, her hand tightly around the struggling blond's throat.
Gabe took a step toward her, "Sagwa-"
Sagwa cut him off by turning to him and growling.
"Shit." Gabe took a few steps back.
Red sighed and walked up to her, "Sagwa, you can't do this."
She looked down at him and bared her teeth, lifting him with her free hand and flinging him back to where Gabe and Kreed stood.
Gabe immediately crouched beside him to check if he was okay.
Kreed sighed, "My turn." He walked slowly up to Sagwa, "Hybrid, what did that stupid blond bimbo do?"
Sagwa roared loudly, "She killed my baby sister."
"Ah. Well, as much as I think she deserves to die, I don't think it should be done here. And you can't drain her, you've already tasted blood, if you have more now, the blood lust will take over."
Sagwa stood dead still, only turning to look at Darla who had now passed out.
"Hybrid, please, I don't want to lose you to this."
Sagwa turned and headed into the building, carrying Darla as though she weighed nothing.
By the time they got back to the flat Sagwa's teeth and body had returned back to normal, but like her eyes, her hair remained the strange colour.
Raya frowned when Sagwa started tying Darla to a chair.
"What's going on?"
Sagwa stood, "We're going to find out what this bitch knows about Vlad."
