Sagwa sat patiently on the bar stool watching as Gabe examined her blood.
Sagwa frowned, "Gabe, you've been staring at my blood for fifteen minutes straight; what's going on ?"
Gabe looked up, "I'm trying to understand how its moulding with the hybrid cells, sweets. That way if I know how they mould together I'll be able to figure out how to separate them. Separation is the key here."
Red came to stand behind Sagwa's chair and put his hands on her shoulders, "It'll be ok, Sag, Gabe will make you human again."
Sagwa didn't say anything, she couldn't, they didn't know what it was like to be this hybrid. They couldn't possibly know how it felt not to be human anymore.
They couldn't possibly know how it felt to be a monster and hate yourself more and more for it each day.
Red sensed the need of a change in topic, "So, um, Em's coming here later. She's gonna try help Gabe figure out what's going on with your cells."
Sagwa spun around in her chair, "Em ? You told Em about me being a hybrid? Why would you do that, Red?"
Em, otherwise known as Emily Parker, was not a big fan of Sagwa's.
She had been chasing after Gabe while Sagwa and he were dating, and she had ultimately got what she wanted and split them up after two years. Of course, Emily hadn't been amused when Gabe had told her he had made a mistake by sleeping with her and that he still loved Sagwa and was devoted to getting her back.
But that didn't change the fact that Sagwa would never take him back, nor would any amount of apologies erase the fact that Gabe had broken Sagwa's heart.
Nor would it erase the fact that Sagwa had broken Emily's nose and jaw.
Red frowned, "Sagwa, Em's good at this and she really wants to make it all up to you after what happened between you three."
Sagwa snorted, "More like she's hoping to get back into Gabe's pants again."
"Actually, I really do want to help you, Sagwa."
Sagwa turned back to Gabe, ignoring the blond (Emily) in the doorway.
Gabe looked at Em very briefly and somewhat awkwardly, "Hi."
Em came over and sat next to Sagwa, "Hey. How is everyone?"
Sagwa spoke before anyone else had the chance to, "Wonderful, its always been my dream to be a hybrid freak, you know."
Red sighed and exchanged looks with Gabe, both knowing how sarcastic Sagwa could get but glad no punches were being thrown.
"Sagwa, I know it must be hard for you, and I'm sorry. I'm also sorry for hurting you before. I really want to make it up to you." Emily said, sounding a bit too sincere for Sagwa's liking.
Sagwa nodded stiffly, "Red,did Raya say if she's coming ?"
Gabe shook his head, "She can't make it today."
Raya was a friend of all of theirs; she was the peace maker. Basically the exact opposite of Sagwa, how they had remained friends for so long, she didn't know.
"Ah, the hybrid girl, I knew I'd find you."
Red, Em and Sagwa turned to the door, there stood a man in black long pants, black shirt and black shoes. He had brown hair tied back, and a very mean look about him.
He looked like the type who didn't take any crap.
Gabe came around the table, "Can I help you ?"
The guy in the door way (who clearly worked out) smirked, "Look, I don't feel like breaking you in half, it would be too easy, so just step out of the way and let me have my hybrid."
Gabe crossed his arms, "Get out."
Sagwa knew that this man must be from Jack, and where Gabe was an excellent fighter, this guy would have finished him in no time at all.
Sagwa stood and went to stand at Gabe's side, "Here I am."
Gabe frowned, "Sagwa-"
She cut him off, "Its fine, Gabe."
The guy in the door seemed to hesitate, "The hybrid?"
She nodded.
He held out his hand, "Let's go."
Sagwa turned to Gabe, "I'll be back, don't stress."
Gabe hugged her tightly before she followed the guy out.
He knew it wasn't a good idea to let her go but he also knew not to argue with Sagwa once she had her mind made up.
And she may be small, but she could definitely look after herself.
There was no two ways about that.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
