Chapter 8

Skyler’s POV

You know the times when you can actually hear a pin drop? If I wasn’t so damn nervous I would actually do that or may be laugh at their reactions. Bloody Hell one actually faced planted at his food, one fell from the chair and I think I saw one fainted from shock. Hell is it that surprising finding my mate? OA (over reacting) much! My lips twitched at that. Still the silence is very unnerving.

Minutes passed…Still Silence. My eye twitches and I shifted in my place. It’s becoming annoying. Urg! The suspense is actually killing me.

Silence. Twitch.

Silence. Twitch.

Silence. Snap. There goes my patience. I scowled darkly at them. I felt pride as I saw most of them flinched back.

Silence. Twitch. Twitch. SNAP! Bye bye self-control.

“Stop being so damn silent! A reaction will do, ya know?” I all but growled.

They blinked.

I scowled.

Blink.

Scowl.

Blink.

A tick mark appeared at my head.

They blinked again.

Damn it! I had it. I opened my mouth…just to be cut off.

“As much as I enjoy my brother’s reaction, I would appreciate it more if you guys stop acting like a mindless idiots.” A sickly voice said.

All of us shivered slightly at the cold-edge tone hidden by the overly cheerful voice. We got the message loud and clear. : Get yourselves together or else…

I was about to talk but damn it he cut me off with his hand. He shrugged then counted silently with his hand. Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

He covered his ears quickly as pandemonium erupted. I grimaced in pain as I covered my ringing ears.I cursed my silently for having enhanced hearings. I looked at Blake who was smirking at me. My eyes widened. That bastard! He planned this!

“SHUT UP!”

Pregnant silence. I cautiously removed my hands. Dad was standing in front with a stern look. The pack followed him like a true alpha. My respect for him knocked up a notch. I stiffened when his gaze landed on me. “Is it true, son?”

I nodded tersely.

He looked at me intently before grinning, evaporating the alpha look. “My boy has found his mate.” He looked at the pack then raised his fist. “This calls for a celebration!”

Cheers erupted. Questions were shouted everywhere, demanding for answers.

I smiled uncomfortably. What do I do? God help!

“Skyler, why didn’t you tell me you found your mate?” a voice rang out from the crowd, immediately silencing them.

I froze as the pack cleared way and a single person was shown. God do ya hate me that much for me to suffer this?

“Big brother, how could you not tell Mom of such an important thing? Have you no shame?”

I scrambled for an answer. “No um wel…it’s just uh…cause-there was a…meeting- yah! A very important meeting tonight. So I didn’t want to um…add pressure?”
