Chapter 9
Felicia’s POV
Damn it! I’m so late! I screamed in my head as I jumped over a fence and continued running at the same time dodging people who are in my way.
I can’t believe I overslept; I rarely do that mind you, except when I’m really really exhausted or seriously hurt. My mood turned south when I remembered yesterday. I shook my head, getting myself together. It would do no good to dwell on those thoughts.
I stopped in front of the door of my class. My hand moved to knock the door, then hesitated. I tensed, my first class is Calculus...Skyler will be there…beside me. My chest contracted painfully but even then my heart was beating faster. Nervous? Anticipation? Excitement? Scared? I wonder. I took a deep breath. I could do this. Go Fel! Fighting! I steeled myself and entered.
“Sorry I’m late, may I come in?” I inquired politely, an ingrained habit of mine.
“Alright, but don’t let this happen again.”
“Yes sir.”
He nodded then gestured me inside to which I complied immediately. I headed for my seat, studiously ignoring Skyler, who was looking at me. Thank Heavens I a good enough actress. My calm and easygoing façade hasn’t even slipped, hiding my true emotions which are raging uncontrollably. I determinedly looked at the teacher, trying to focus on the lesson.
“Fel.”
I stilled, thankfully it went unnoticed and stayed silent. What do I do? Hell, what should I do? He sounds so sincere and sorry…Damn it! What would Dad say? And suddenly like answering my prayer I remembered his words before. ‘Don’t be rash. Hear both sides first before you act ‘cause you don’t know what really happened. Both of you must be impartial and wise about it…and now will you tell me who actually broke the window huh?’ I inwardly smiled at the memory, I guess that answers that.
I gathered my nerves as I heard his voice again. “Please Fel.”
Closing my eyes briefly then spoke, “Yes?”
Skyler’s POV
“YOU DID WHAT?” Zachary exclaimed, attracting attention.
I glared. “Do you really have to shout it to the world?”
Ignoring my remark, he spoke, “You are a bloody fool. I even offered to tell her but nooo…”
Ashamed, I looked at the ground. “I know.”
He sighed. “You are just have to tell her the truth and say that you’re sorry.”
“But…but what if she doesn’t forgive me?” or starts to hate me? I felt as if I was shot by a silver bullet. It hurts.
“Then hope for the best Skyler.”
We split up and went to our own classes. I slumped in the chair, feeling like crap. Thank Heavens that Fel wasn’t here, I wouldn’t what to do if she was. I sighed heavily. I feel like the biggest git ever for what happened yesterday.
I sat there with depressing thoughts until the bell rang. I blinked surprised at the time flew by then noticed that Fel still wasn’t around. May be she cut class because of me, of what I did, to avoid me. That thought felt like a punch to the gut. My gaze looked at my desk gloomily. It can’t be helped, I’ll just meet her next time and apologize, or may be go to her house. Hmm…does Lily or Lorie even know where she lives. May be not, it’s only been what? 2 days?
Suddenly I caught a familiar heavenly scent though it was faint. It was definitely my mate, she must be close. After a few moments, I snapped my head to the door. She was outside, standing there. Why is she taking so long? Why is she still standing there? Oh…is she still not keen to see me. Suddenly she entered, apologized for being late then went to her seat. My heart sank when I noticed she was pointedly ignoring me. I remembered Zachary’s words. Well it’s now or never. Softly, I spoke, “Fel.”
