|No Show|

"Alright, blue or red?" Y/N asked as she appeared from her closet, holding up two different dresses at her sides. Lydia tapped her chin, biting her lip.

"Go with the red. You're going to a restaurant, it's more classy." She shrugs. Y/N snorts, raising her eyebrows.

"Oh please, you're just saying that because you watched Me Before You today." She laughs.

"Hey, Emilia Clarke really pulled off that dress!" Lydia defends, making Y/N giggle.

"Is Me Before You better than The Notebook?" She asked, to which Lydia gave her a stern expression.

"Don't go there." She said seriously, earning an eye roll from her friend. "So, who is this guy again?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Uh, some guy I work with. He asked me out and I said, hey, why not? It'll be nice to get out." Y/N shrugs as she moves to the bathroom to change into her dress.

"Uh huh. So, you're going out with him despite your crush on Derek?" Lydia asks, raising her eyebrows. Y/N sighs, closing her eyes.

"Lydia." She says, to which the redhead sighed gently.

"I'm just asking, Y/N." The other girl sighs, shrugging. Y/N sighs as she opens the door, the red dress hugging her body in all the right ways.

"I guess I just need a distraction. I don't know, I just..." She groaned. "I'm so sick of being so love lorn, you know?" Lydia's face softens and she smiles, nodding at her friend.

"I understand. Just...try to let this guy down easy, yeah?" She says, and Y/N laughs gently, nodding.

"Yeah. I will."

Irony can be funny sometimes. It can also be a cruel, cruel pain in the ass.

Y/N sat at her table, looking at her watch for the 5th time that evening, rolling her eyes in exasperation. It had been an hour and her date still hadn't shown up.

"Ma'am?" She looked up when the waiter spoke, looking down at her with a sympathetic smile on his face. "Can I get you some more water?" Y/N shoots him a gentle smile and shakes her head.

"Just the check, please. I think I'm done here." She says, a hint of bitterness in her voice as the waiter scurries off the grab her check. She pulls out her phone, sighing as she hits Derek's contact.

"Hello?" She couldn't help but smile when she heard his voice, the simple sound of it being enough to bring her out of her bad mood.

"Hey, sour wolf."

"Y/N, hey! I thought you had a date tonight?" A sigh escaped Y/N's lips.

"Me too. Apparently my date thought differently."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I've been sitting alone in this fancy ass restaurant for an hour now getting sad looks from literally every single person in here. My waiter brought me free crab puffs for God sakes." She rolls her eyes. "Listen, I know you're busy, but do you think you can-"

"Tell me where you are, I'll be there in ten minutes."

Y/N smiles in relief when Derek's familiar black Toyota pulls up, the alpha stepping out of the driver's seat and hopping up onto the curb.

"My knight in shining armor." She grins. Derek smiles gently and pulls her into an embrace, squeezing her gently.

"I'm sorry, Y/N." The girl scoffs.

"Don't be. I'm not quite sure why I said yes to going out with this guy anyway." She chuckles into his chest, pulling back and gripping his strong arms gently. Derek smiles and rubs her shoulders gently, raising his eyebrows.

"Well, if you want, I'd be more than happy to rip his throat out with my teeth for you." He jokes and Y/N laughs, shaking her head and staring down at her shoes for a moment. When she looks back up, Derek is now looking at her in awe. She raises an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Nothing, I just..." He chuckles gently, squeezing her shoulders softly. "I didn't realize how beautiful you looked until now." He says, and Y/N smile broadens.

"Thank Lydia, she picked out the dress." She jokes, making Derek laugh softly. "But thank you."

"You know, it would be a shame to let this dress go to waste..." Derek says, shrugging a bit. "You wanna go see a movie?" Y/N grins brightly and nods, squeezing his arms.

"I'd like that."
